Apex Legends gun damage: Cheat Sheet for Season 16 (All weapons)
Season 16 is here, and with it weapon changes. So join us in our seasonal overview of the Apex Legends guns. From damage per body part to shots to kill.
We have broken down all of the Apex Legends guns by ammo type, weapon class, damage, mag size and most important the number of shots to kill an enemy. We've highlighted some of the most important info of each weapon class so you don't have to do all the digging yourself. This Apex Legends gun damage cheat sheet will help you be informed and flex to your friends just how much you know about the game.
Light Machine Guns
LMG's in Apex have always been a weird case, but have been slowly becoming more viable options. However despite their improvements, they are still incredibly outclassed by other weapons. Their long reload times and slow fire rates don't balance out with their slightly higher damage output. Light Machine guns in Apex pose quite the balancing challenge, as they can be easily pushed over the top.
Weapon | Headshot DMG | Body DMG | Limb DMG | Mag Size | Shots to kill (White - Purple) |
Devotion | 23 | 15 | 13 | 36/40/44/48 | 10 - 13 |
L-STAR | 26 | 17 | 14 | 24/26/28/30 | 9 - 15 |
Spitfire | 27 | 18 | 15 | 35/40/45/50 | 9 - 12 |
Rampage | 39 | 26 | 22 | 40 | 6 - 8 |
This overturning is exemplified by the first release of the Rampage, where it was insanely strong. And even now, seasons later, the Rampage is still by far the best LMG in Apex. Now, its even made its return to ground loot, which could repolarize the forgotten weapon.

On the other hand, we have the Devotion which is quite the unique case. As despite the damage decrease when equipped, its the only time you see the weapon being used. Especially as its a common Xare Package item in the new TDM game mode, we see the Devotion seeing use rather than solely being reliant on finding a Turbocharger and it puts in work in TDM.
So in short:
- The Rampage is still the best LMG in the game
- The gold Devotion is a great grab in TDM
- The L-Star is still arguably the worst weapon
Assault Rifles
Assault Rifles have always been reliable weapons and haven't gone through too many changes over the seasons. But Season 16 changes this up with both the new Nemesis Burst Assault Rifle and the Hemlock's move to the Care Package. The Nemesis is a energy Assault Rifle with a 4 round burst that's a bit overturned as per most new weapons in Apex.
Weapon | Headshot DMG | Body DMG | Limb DMG | Mag Size | Shots to kill (White - Purple) |
Nemesis | 30 | 17 | 13 | 20/24/28/32 | 9-12 |
Havoc | 32 | 18 | 14 | 24/28/32/36 | 9-12 |
R-301 | 23 | 13 | 10 | 18/20/25/28 | 11-15 |
Flatline | 32 | 18 | 14 | 20/25/28/30 | 9-12 |
Hemlock | 40 | 23 | 17 | 18/24/27/30 | 7-9 |
On the other hand, the big change to the weapons is to the Hemlock as its now been moved to the Care Package. With the change comes a huge damage buff to the weapon. Jumping to 23 per bullet and a increased headshot multiplier (to 1.8), integrated booster loader and better recoil control. So suffice to say, the underused weapon is now a menacing threat.

As previously mentioned, the Nemesis is a bit on the strong side. But whenever a new legend or weapon is added to Apex, this is always the case. The Nemesis is a burst fire energy Assault Rifle that is quite unique. In that as long as you hold down the trigger, the Nemesis will keep firing. So despite it being a burst AR, it's somewhat not a burst fire weapon. For now, make sure to capitalize on the Nemesis' strength before it gets nerfed. When it comes to gun damage it's deliberately a bit overpowered.
In short:
- The Hemlock has moved into the Care Package and is terrifying
- The R-301 has gotten a slight damage nerf but it hasn't changed much
- The Nemesis is insanely strong, but it will get toned down soon
Pistols
The Pistol category of weapons that have gone back and fourth with their strength. Mainly with the inclusion of their possible hop ups. Bouncing between the Hammerpoint and Skullpeircer hop ups between seasons. Specifically with Hammerpoint rounds, Season 14 included the hop ups, Season 15 removed them and now they return once more. So that makes the P2020 and Mozambique somewhat decent options.
Weapon | Headshot DMG | Body DMG | Limb DMG | Mag Size | Shots to kill (White - Purple) |
P2020 | 27 | 18 | 16 | 14/16/18/21 | 9-12 |
RE-45 | 21 | 14 | 13 | 25 | 11-15 |
Wingman | 97 | 45 | 41 | 6/7/8/9 | 4-5 |

In short:
- The RE-45 is still a great Care Package weapon
- The return of Hammerpoints make the P2020 and Mozambique good options again
- The Wingman as always reigns on top
Marksmen and Sniper Rifles
These two classes of weapons, like last season, haven't changed. The last notable update to either weapon class was the Kraber nerf back in season 13. Although it is worth noting that since the inclusion of the hop ups for the Marksmen weapons 30-30 and G7, the weapons have been gaining some popularity. Especially since their hop ups respectively increase the damage output of both weapons significantly.
Weapon | Headshot DMG | Body DMG | Limb DMG | Mag Size | Shots to kill (White - Purple) |
Charge Rifle | 116 | 105 | 105 | 8 | 2-3 |
Longbow | 118 | 55 | 50 | 3/8/10/12 | 3-4 |
Kraber | 280 | 140 | 112 | 4 | 2 |
Sentinel | 140 | 70 | 63 | 1/5/6/7 | 2-3 |
Combining both aspects of the long range damage of snipers with the lighter movement speed of Assault Rifles, Marksmen have made quite the small niche in Apex for themselves. Especially since Sniper ammo tends to be harder to find than the counterparts of the Marksmen weapons.
Although the damage output of the Marksmen are less, both classes of weapons are the best at long range poke. It just depends on preference.
Weapon | Headshot DMG | Body DMG | Limb DMG | Mag Size | Shots to kill (White - Purple) |
G7 | 60 | 34 | 26 | 10/15/18/20 | 5-6 |
Triple Take | 111 | 63 | 57 | 18/21/24/27 | 3-4 |
30-30 | 100 | 57 | 48 | 6/8/10/12 | 3-4 |
Bocek Bow | 123 | 70 | 63 | 1 | 3 |
In short:
- The 30-30 and G7 Scout far outclass the Triple Take, especially with their hop ups
- The Longbow is the best sniper stat wise despite its lower damage
- The Sentinel's buff with regards to its amp is strong
Sub Machine Guns
The most popular category of the Apex weapons are easily SMGs. Unlike other categories, there's been a couple small changes to the weapons.
The R-99 got a small damage buff while the Volt has moved into the Care Package, which shakes up the debate between the "best SMG" debate. Most players are leaning towards the R-99 due to how fast you can melt through enemies.
Weapon | Headshot DMG | Body DMG | Limb DMG | Mag Size | Shots to kill (White - Purple) |
Alternator | 24 | 16 | 13 | 19/22/25/27 | 10-13 |
Prowler | 22 | 15 | 12 | 20/25/30/35 | 3-4 |
R-99 | 18 | 12 | 10 | 20/22/25/28 | 13-17 |
Volt | 23 | 15 | 12 | 19/21/23/26 | 10-14 |
C.A.R. | 20 | 13 | 10 | 20/22/24/27 | 12-16 |
Its also worth noting the rising popularity of the Prowler Burst PDW. As it got a buff earlier in season 15. Specifically in the hands of a controller player, the Prowler is something to fear. It's damage is almost on par with the Volt, but fires in 3 round bursts. Meaning you can win trades incredibly fast given you hit the burst.

In short:
- The R-99 got buffed and now is considered the best SMG
- The Volt has moved to the Crafter
- A controller player's Prowler is scary

Carrying on last season's balance, the tweaks to weapons have all been minor except for the inclusion of the Nemesis AR. The state of Apex's weapons (outside the Nemesis) is pretty balanced with every weapon of each class being relatively around the same level.
