Avowed: How to fix PC keybinds not saving

An incredibly frustrating bug.

Avowed has finally launched and while the new RPG is a success in many ways, it does still have its fair share of bugs. Some of these are gameplay-related and others are already being patched out by the developers at Obsidian Entertainment. However, there's one bug on PC that is already driving Avowed players up the wall, and it has to do with their keybinds.

Currently, Avowed features a bug that resets PC players' keybinds every time they re-open the game. This is extremely frustrating, especially for players who prefer a very specific set of keybinds. It's not fun having to redo every single keybind you want changed whenever you want to play Avowed again.

In this guide, we'll go over the bug and if there is anything you can do to fix it.

Fixing the PC keybinds bug in Avowed

During my entire review period with Avowed, I had to deal with this bug on PC, and it was not pleasant whatsoever. The default keybinds are mostly what I want, but having to change "Interact" to "E" from "F" every time I opened the game was a nightmare.

Unfortunately, the initial set of patch notes for Avowed doesn't include a fix for this bug. There are plenty of other fixes with the UI, quests, and other gameplay-related issues, but nothing for the PC keybinds bug. As more player reports come in about the bug, the developers will surely be able to implement a fix fairly quickly, as this doesn't appear to be a difficult issue to solve.

Of course, this means in the meantime, there's really nothing you can do about the bug. I even tried tinkering with the files for Avowed on Steam and that didn't yield any results either. The only way you can get around the bug is to remember what keybinds you want changed every time you open the game. Then, simply go to the settings, navigate to the keybinds section, and change the controls to your preferences.

Hopefully, the developers issue a fix for this bug quickly, otherwise, some Avowed players on PC might not ever let their game stop running. We'll keep this guide updated if any news of a workaround or patch is announced.

That's all for now. Stick around on esports.gg for more news and updates.
