Is the newest RPG coming to PS5?

Avowed is the newest RPG on the market, coming from renowned developer Obsidian Entertainment. The RPG has opened to glowing reviews from critics and fans alike who cite its fantastic visuals, innovative combat, and terrific writing as some of its best features. However, Avowed was only released on Xbox Series X|S and PC at launch, leaving PlayStation 5 players out in the cold.

This was the fully expected outcome, as Obsidian Entertainment is owned by Xbox's Microsoft. Still, with recent trends in the gaming industry, exclusive titles have started to come to more and more platforms after their initial launch. Is that trend going to continue with Avowed? We'll tell you all we know in the guide below.

Is Avowed ever arriving on PlayStation 5?

Unfortunately, nothing official or concrete has been announced by Obsidian or Microsoft regarding the platforms for Avowed. As of right now, it's only on Xbox Series X|S and PC and it's staying that way for the foreseeable future.

However, Microsoft has publicly stated that nothing is off the table when it comes to delivering more Xbox titles to PlayStation and other platforms. Most notably, Obsidian Entertainment's other major RPG in 2025, The Outer Worlds 2, is arriving on PlayStation 5 on day one in addition to Xbox Series X|S and PC. Starfield is also coming to PS5 soon after spending a year and a half on Xbox and PC.

So, the chance that Avowed eventually comes to PS5 is extremely high. Avowed developers have even hinted at the possibility in recent interviews, remarking that the game is "destined" to come to Sony's flagship console. While nothing is official yet, it appears that it's a question of "when?" not "if" Avowed comes to PS5.

We regrettably have no timetable for Avowed's likely release on the console. Microsoft will likely want to let the game stay on Xbox and PC for a few months at least before commenting on its future with other platforms. Hopefully, though, PS5 gamers could be playing Avowed by the end of 2025 or at the start of 2026.
