The Moonshot Medal might be the toughest one to earn in all of Black Ops 6.

If you have entered first Prestige in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, then you might have peeked at the special challenges that unlock with it. While most of them are fairly trivial to complete, one requires you to earn a Moonshot Medal. To earn a Moonshot Medal in Black Ops 6, you need to kill an enemy that is 250 meters or more away.

Obviously, given the size of the maps in Black Ops 6, that seems like an incredibly daunting, perhaps impossible task. However, thanks to the work of the player base, there's actually a simple way to get this done that doesn't require you even to shoot your weapon. We'll go over the method to earn a Moonshot Medal in the guide below.

Earning a Moonshot Medal in Black Ops 6

If you think logically about the challenge, a Moonshot Medal should require you to be 250 meters away from an enemy and kill them with a long-range weapon. However, seeing as no maps feature a sightline of 250 meters, we have to think outside the box for the challenge. Fortunately, some maps are 250 meters or more in overall length.

It's only on these maps where the Moonshot Medal can be earned. The maps you need to play on are as follows:

  1. Vorkuta
  2. Red Card
  3. Scud

It's possible another map, such as Vault, could suffice, but these three maps have been proven to work.

When you get the map you need, it's vital you equip the Spring Mine Field Upgrade. You could also use another form of a stationary piece of equipment, such as the Blast Trap, but the Spring Mine is easiest. It also helps the Spring Mine Field Upgrade is the default one in the new Infected mode in Black Ops 6, which is where we recommend you try to earn a Moonshot Medal.

Whether you're in Infected or not, you need to place the Spring Mine on one end of a map. Then, before the Spring Mine is triggered by an enemy, you need to run as far as you can to the opposite end of the map. Once you're as far away as possible, an enemy needs to be killed by the Spring Mine.

As previously stated, this is far easier to do in Infected, where there are more chances to kill enemies that can't defend themselves. Still, the most difficult part of the challenge is making it across the map before the Spring Mine is triggered.

If you manage to kill an enemy with the Spring Mine when you're 250 meters away from the mine's location, you'll earn a Moonshot Medal. The idea is you're still killing an enemy 250 meters away, but you're simply not using a weapon.

When the Moonshot Medal is earned, you should complete the Prestige 1 calling card challenge titled "Squint Test." If you don't earn it, then it's possible you weren't 250 meters away from the killed enemy, or your challenge is bugged.
