The best RPK loadout in MW2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has delivered a drastic change of pace when it comes to multiplayer. Recent franchise entries have been all about movement. Now, things have slowed down back to the old ways. This allows weapons outside of your typical AR and SMG categories to make an impact. One specifically is the RPK. The RPK light machine gun packs a punch and its best loadout in MW2 maintains the power of the weapon while making it an accurate threat from almost any range.

The first thing you will need to do to use the RPK is unlock it. Modern Warfare 2 makes unlocking weapons very straightforward. Each weapon belongs to a Weapon Platform where you can see the unlock requirements.

For the RPK, you'll find it as part of the Kastovia Platform. It is a second tier weapon in the top branch of the tree. The first weapon is the Kastov 762. Take the Kastov 762 into multiplayer to net some kills and XP. Get it to level 16 and you will unlock the RPK light machine gun.

As a light machine gun, the RPK already deals huge damage with a high fire rate. It can also keep its damage going at far ranges. You won't be able to beam enemies across the map with it, but if you mount it and hold a position, you'll be surprised as how easily it picks off opponents at longer distances.

Its mobility and handling are subpar, so you won't be able to run and gun with it. That should be expected with an LMG like the RPK. Instead, the best loadout for it in MW2 provides benefits to its accuracy and recoil. You'll be able to land your shots easily and wipe whole teams with its large ammo capacity.
