But there’s one feature that has and will always have a huge impact on a player’s performance in CS2. Here’s how to show FPS in CS2 and improve your gameplay.
What is FPS?
FPS (Frames per second) is the most important statistic that directly impacts a player’s performance in CS2. Frames per second is the frequency of consecutive images captured or displayed. In short, it defines the smoothness of the game to your eyes.
A higher FPS is always better as it allows you to have faster reflexes. In a game like CS2, which is often fast-paced and at times, a single bullet (with the AK or Deagle) can kill you, response time matters a lot. At the highest levels of the game, a faster response time can often mean the difference between a round win or loss.
How to show FPS in CS2?
But first, you need to be able to see how much FPS you are getting in the game. The default load of the game does not immediately show the FPS.
Here’s how to show FPS in CS2:
- Open console [default key is ~]
- Type “cl_showfps 1”
- Press Enter
You should now be able to see your FPS on the screen. If you don’t see the FPS yet, you should make sure you have net_graph enabled on your account. Follow these instructions to enable net_graph in CS2:
- Open console
- Type “net_graph 1”
- Press Enter
How much FPS is good for CS2?
With drastic improvements in GPUs and computer systems, there are many fans who have very high FPS. However, the beauty of CS2 is that it has a new sub-tick system. This means the system optimizes the game depending on your computer’s specifications.
However, if you are searching for a raw number, an FPS of 200 or above is generally considered to be a good number. Higher the FPS, the faster your reaction time which will ultimately lead to a better performance. For players who don't have a very high-end system, they often try to play with lower video settings to improve their FPS. After some point, an increase in the video settings has diminishing returns compared to the loss in FPS.
