As you play through more games of Deadlock, you will likely come across something called Unsecured Souls either lying on the ground or even in your own inventory. Deadlock Unsecured Souls: How do they work?

When playing Deadlock, typical Souls are earned via troop kills, player eliminations, or by destroying objectives in lanes. However, if you find Souls in crates or roam the map killing camps of neutral enemies, you will earn things called Unsecured Souls. You will see these in the bottom left of your screen next to your total Souls number, and you should also have a small silver orb that sits on your waist.

Over time, these orbs will convert to being normal Souls, but they can be spent like normal Souls in the meantime. However, if you are to die while holding them, they will be dropped on the ground and can be picked up by allied or enemy characters.

Unsecured Souls strategy: When to go for them and when to lane

These souls are a bit risky, sure, but if you have plans to spend the Unsecured Souls quickly, they bear very little risk. So, if you are just short on enough Souls to buy something, but maybe you are low health and don't want to engage your lane, you can hop over and clear a small or medium camp, snag some Souls, and go buy. These camps first spawn at 2:00, 7:00, and 10:00 in Deadlock.

Also, if you are a high-mobility character like Haze or Kelvin, it can be especially easy to leave your lane and go claim some of these for yourself. Trust us, the more Souls you can get the better.
