PGL Wallachia Season 5 is set to kick off in less than a week. As with previous iterations of the event, teams will be heading to the PGL Studio in Bucharest, Romania. The 16 teams involved are all locked in and are preparing themselves for the nine-day battle for the $1,000,000 prize pool on offer.

While the teams will all be focused on the tournament at hand, many will also have the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 on their mind, as it begins a few weeks later.

With that in mind, we break down everything there is to know about PGL Wallachia Season 5.

With this being the fifth iteration of PGL Wallachia, we will see no changes to the format. As per usual, on teams will enter the tournament in a modified Swiss-system round-robin. While the bottom 8 teams will be eliminated following this, the top 8 will move on to the playoffs. Awaiting them in the playoffs will be a double-elimination bracket. All games throughout the event are best-of-three, except the grand final, which will be a best-of-five brawl for the championship trophy.

Every team confirmed for the tournament

While the 16 teams heading to PGL Wallachia have all been confirmed, a few changes have been made over the last few weeks. The first minor change saw Team Tidebound being acquired by a new organization, All Gamers Global. However, the second change is far more significant.

On June 16, PGL announced via their X account that MOUZ would no longer be participating in the tournament. While no direct reason was given, many online have already begun to speculate on the future of the team. Replacing MOUZ would be Edge.

Following their inclusion in the event, Edge made a few changes of their own. With Team Secret's failure to reach EWC 2025 or The International (TI) 2025 through qualifiers, Edge took on the powerhouse combination of David Nicho "Parker" Flores and Clement "Puppey" Ivanov for the duration of the tournament.

While it has no impact on this particular tournament, NAVI's roster will be playing under the organization's banner for the last time. Following the conclusion of PGL Wallachia Season 5, NAVI Junior will replace them as the main roster going forward. In a statement made via the NAVI website, the organization said the following:

"We have made the decision to disband our current Dota 2 roster. The team's last tournament under the NAVI banner will be PGL Wallachia Season 5, which will take place from June 21 to 29. Afterwards, the players will become free agents open to new offers.

We would also like to highlight the success of NAVI Junior roster in a year when the guys have achieved impressive results and have substantially increased their gaming skills."
