Materia is a timeless classic of Final Fantasy 7 (FF7). In fact, tinkering with Materia settings is what makes FF7 all the more fun. And Square Enix has kept its roots in regards to how Materia works in the latest FF7 entries, much to the fans' delight. In this guide is everything you need to know about Materia in FF7 Rebirth, how they work and the locations to find them.
What is Materia and how does it work in FF7 Rebirth?
Materia works the same way in both FF7 Remake and Rebirth with the original game. You need to equip it inside your weapon or armor. Open your menu and select "Materia & Equipment." From there you can choose a character to manually set their Materia by pressing triangle, or click the touch pad to set Materia for all characters directly.

Types of Materia in FF7 Rebirth
There are five types of Materia available in FF7 Rebirth, each with its own distinct function. The Materia are as follows:

 | Magic Materia | Blue-colored Materia that links with other Materia to provide bonuses, mainly with Magic and Command Materia |

Location of all Materia in FF7 Rebirth
Below we have listed down the locations of all Materia that you can acquire in FF7 Rebirth. You can get most of them through completing Chadley's Combat Simulator challenges or from exploring the world and continuing the main story. Otherwise, many are purchasable from NPCs as well.
For the purpose of this guide, we will cover all types of Materia except for Summon Materia, which are mostly obtainable through completing Chadley's Summon Intel missions.
