Pieces of Eight are an alternative currency in Skull and Bones that gives you access to some of the rare cosmetics and weapons in the game.

Pieces of Eight is one of the currencies you'll use in Skull and Bones. The base currency is Silver. This is what you earn for completing the majority of tasks, missions, and objectives. Pieces of Eight, however, are much rarer and require to you get involved with even more dastardly types.

As you progress through the early positions of the Skull and Bones story, you'll be introduced to the Helm. This is an underground black market where you can obtain contracts for collecting resources or delivering the goods you make.

Once you are given access to the Helm on Sainte-Anne, this is how you can start gaining Pieces of Eight:

  1. Speak with Yanita Yara at the Sainte-Anne bar
  2. Complete collection and delivery missions until she upgrades your office and tells you of her sister
  3. Head to Telok Penjarah to speak to Yanita's sister, Houma Nara, and unlock the Helm office there
  4. Now that you are fully set up at both Pirate Dens, begin producing goods like Rum and Opium
  5. Interact with the Order Registry at either Helm location
  6. Select and accept an order
  7. Make sure you have the goods for the order in your cargo and not your warehouse, then set sail
  8. Reach the order location, interact with the buyer, and claim your reward

The most important thing to note here is that you have to complete orders from the Order Registry in a direct manner. You cannot fast travel while actively tracking an order for the Helm. Deliver the goods and the Pieces of Eight are yours.

In addition, you can earn passive Pieces of Eight if you gain control over Manufactories. This happens after you reach the Kingpin Infamy Rank. Hostile Takeover events will begin, where you can defeat enemies in a certain area to complete your progress and gain control of the location.

From there, spend some Silver to fund your operation. Use some Pieces of Eight to upgrade your Manufactories. Then as product is made and currency is earned, you can sail by and pick it up. You'll have to return to a Pirate Den with it in your inventory before it is fully yours.

Where to use Pieces of Eight

After you have completed a handful of missions for Yanita, the Black Market opens up. You can talk to either Yanita or Houma in their respective Pirate Dens. Select Open the Black Market and you can see what they have to offer.

You can get rare resources, weapons, furniture, and cosmetics for your ship, new cosmetics for your captain, and rare blueprints. Some require you to reach a certain Infamy Rank. They're in the Black Market in Skull and Bones for a reason, and will cost you a bundle of Pieces of Eight to purchase.

Alternatively, you can spend your Pieces of Eight at other merchants or while customizing your ship. For example, the Black Market items are available for purchase through the Vanity Atelier and in your Ship Cosmetics section while readying to set sail.
