Here is what you need to know about what does MMR mean in MLBB, how you can increase it, and how it works in the game.

The term MMR or Matchmaking Rating is common in most competitive games, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). The term refers to a rating system that measures a player’s skill in the game. This mechanic also determines which players you’ll be facing in each game.

This means you will most likely face high-skilled players if you keep winning your matches. On the contrary, you will be playing against less skilled players if your MMR is low. Let’s break down the mechanics of how MMR works in MLBB and how you can increase or decrease it.

MMR in ML refers to the system that assesses your skill in the game. It is used in various game features from the leaderboards to the matchmaking system. Acting as a numerical reflection of a player’s proficiency, MMR takes into account not just wins and losses. Your performance in matches can also affect your MMR score.

This is why you may notice that the more matches you win, the harder the enemies will get. However, if you keep losing matches, there will be a time when you will be facing alleged bots, in a ranked match.

The best way to improve MMR in MLBB

The best way to increase your MMR in ML is to keep winning matches. However, you can’t just expect your teammates to carry you throughout every match. You also need to contribute to the team.

If you have a bad performance in a match and get a bronze medal, you don’t get much of a boost to your MMR. However, achieving an MVP, getting a Savage, and other positive achievements can significantly increase your MMR gain.

There are three ways you raise your MMR in MLBB:

  • Consistent Performance: If you perform well and keep winning matches, you gain more MMR from matches. However, keep in mind that losing can reduce it but depending on how you perform, the amount deducted can vary.
  • Expand Hero Pool: Playing only one hero can help increase your ranking on that hero alone. However, you won’t be able to perform if that hero gets banned in ranked games. Make sure you have some pocket picks you can use if you can’t use your main.
  • Role Flexibility: The matchmaking system does not take into consideration the role you play. This means you might be matched with players with the same role as you. This can ruin your team composition if none of you can make adjustments. Make sure you at least know how to play two roles in the game.

There is no possible way to check your MMR in ML. The only way to assess your skill is by ranking up. You can check the leaderboard by pressing the Bar Graph icon at the top-right side of the main menu beside the Trophy icon.
