Take on Gigantamax Charizard in Pokémon GO with our comprehensive Raid Guide.

Gigantamax Battles are back in Pokémon GO this weekend. We're getting the Pokémon GO debut of Gigantamax Snorlax on Saturday, April 19. This Pokémon will be appearing in special Max Battles

The issue is, these battles are incredibly hard to take down. Gigantamax Pokémon are incredibly powerful, and you will need a lot of help to win one of these Max Battles. So, you'll want to be prepared.

Here's everything you need to know before you battle Gigantamax Snorlax in Pokémon GO:

How many trainers do I need to beat Gigantamax Snorlax in Pokémon GO?

Unfortunately, you are going to need 20-25 Trainers with good counters to beat Gigantamax Snorlax in Pokémon GO. This will make the Max Battle difficult for rural trainers, and those without an organised community of people to play with.

The maximum number of Trainers is 40, and it takes at least 30 to find this Max Battle "comfortable" based on our previous experiences.

Over time, Gigantamax Max Battles have become a bit easier in Pokémon GO. One of the initial main issues was that most Trainers didn't have high level or effective counters due to Dynamax Pokémon only being out a few weeks when these Pokémon last appeared. We have now had several other Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon release, so this is less of an issue.

With that in mind, if you're a strong group of Trainers with a clear strategy of when to use Shields and healing, with your Max Moves upgraded all the way and high level Dynamax Pokémon you might be able to do this with 15 Trainers.

In addition, we also have Max Mushrooms in Pokémon GO. These are pretty expensive, however they are also very powerful. You can absolutely win this Gigantamax Snorlax battle without using any Mushrooms. That said, if you do have some Trainers using them it will reduce the amount of Trainers you need to win this Battle, so they might be useful for smaller communities.

Best Gigantamax Snorlax weakness and counters

Being a normal type, there aren't a lot of options for Gigantamax Snorlax as it has only a single weakness.

Gigantamax Snorlax's only weakness in Pokémon GO is to Fighting-type attacks. On the flip side, it also has a single weakness, which is to Ghost-type attacks.

As a result, the best Gigantamax Snorlax counters are:

Gigantamax Charizard
Wing Attack & G-Max Wildfire
Gigantamax Lapras
Psywave & G-Max Resonance
Gigantamax Kingler
Bubble & G-Max Foam Burst
Dynamax Machamp
Counter & Dynamic Punch
Gigantamax Venusaur
Vine Whip & G-Max Vine Lash

These are the best Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon that counter Gigantamax Snorlax. However, if you have other options like Dynamax Metagross or Gigantamax Toxtricity powered up, these will be better than a lower CP option of some above. The best Fighting-type to use will be Machamp, and there is a weekly research that grants you a Machop if you need it.

However, there are some other options if you plan to use Max Spirit or Max Guard in these battles. Some tankier Pokémon like Blissey, Greedent or Dubwool can hold their own in these roles.

Gigantamax Snorlax Hundo CP

Here are the all important hundo CP numbers to keep your eye out for after beating Gigantamax Snorlax:

  • 1843 CP
  • 2304 CP (Weather boost - Partly Cloudy weather)

Can Gigantamax Snorlax be shiny?

Yes, the Gigantamax Snorlax you encounter after the Max Battle can be shiny in Pokémon GO. The event ticket does not raise shiny odds, so everyone will have the same chance. The odds are about 1/20.

Pokémon GO Gigantamax Max Battle tips

You absolutely need to be coordinated to win this Gigantamax Snorlax Max Battle in Pokémon GO. Get onto Campfire, see if you have a local Community Ambassador or any other Trainers nearby. Then, in battle, you'll need to keep coordinated too. Have some Trainers use shields and healing each turn, and others attack.

Additionally, make sure you have good counters (if possible) and also reserve your best Pokémon for the end of the Battle. The Max Meter will charge faster at the end of the Battle. This is because once all your Pokémon are knocked out, you can stay involved in the Raid by cheering. Cheering helps the Max Meter charge faster. So, if you don't have the best counters you can still contribute to your team's success. With teamwork, everyone can get Gigantamax Snorlax in Pokémon GO.

Finally, make sure to save up your Max Particles on Friday, April 18. If you collect the daily limit on Friday, you can then collect another 1600 for free (or 3200 with the event ticket) on Saturday. This will let you do between 3 or 5 Max Battles without using any Max Particle packs.

In addition you can save particles from the GO Pass or the weekly G-Max Snorlax Timed Research for even more battles that won't count towards the daily collection limit.

Good luck taking on Gigantamax Snorlax in Pokémon GO, Trainer. Stay tuned to esports.gg for the latest esports news and more Pokémon GO guides.
