The long awaited entry for Hyper Training and Bottle Caps into Pokémon GO!

After a lot of waiting, asking and speculation we now have official details about the introduction of Hyper Training and Bottle Caps into Pokémon GO. This is a really exciting feature, but it will be highly limited and take a lot of time.

That said, this feature will be a total godsend for Trainers. We've all had an amazing Pokémon fall just short of a hundo, or maybe a special Trade that had terrible IVs. You can even use Hyper Training to get some justice on a Mythical Pokémon that had a bad set of IVs too.

Here's everything you need to know about Bottle Caps and the Hyper Training process in Pokémon GO.

How will Bottle Caps and Hyper Training work in Pokémon GO?

Bottle Caps and Hyper Training will go hand in hand. You'll apply a Bottle Cap to set the Training Goal for a Pokémon, and then you will work through the required tasks to train those stats to the level you set. Any Pokémon in Pokémon GO, besides Shadow Pokémon, can undergo Hyper Training.

Importantly, there is no limit on how far you can raise a stat with the Gold Bottle Cap. But, the more a stat is raised the harder the tasks will be. You will have a maximum time of one year to complete tasks.

Tasks will be themed against each stat.

  • Attack: Battle alongside your trainee while they’re your buddy.
  • Defense: Strengthen your bond with your Buddy Pokémon trainee by playing together, exploring, and catching Pokémon.
  • HP: Explore alongside your trainee as a buddy. This can include spinning PokéStops, earning Buddy Candy, or other adventures.

Get your first Gold Bottle Cap during GO Fest Global

Hyper Training looks set to be a brand new and exciting mechanic. We have seen Silver Bottle Caps mentioned, but there has not been an announcement about them yet. These could potentially be limited to just one stat to make them less powerful than Gold Bottle Caps in Pokémon GO.

Our first chance to get a Gold Bottle Cap and start Hyper Training in Pokémon GO will come during GO Fest Global next weekend. You will get a Gold Bottle Cap from the Deluxe Version of the GO Pass, if you reach Level 100.

We will probably get the chance to get more Gold Bottle Caps in the future, but as they are so powerful, don't expect this to be a frequent thing like we have seen with the Lucky Trinket. So, make sure to apply your Bottle Cap carefully.

We would suggest not going for something that is close to maximum IVs, and instead something that fell very short. Maybe a Rayquaza, Zygarde, Zarude or some sort of Lucky Pokémon that didn't get good IVs. Potentially something with a special Background that won't return again - most things do return to the game eventually.
