Take down this powerful Mega-Pokémon with our Raid Guide.

Mega Sceptile is back in raids in Pokémon GO. The Mega Evolved Pokémon is one of the most powerful Grass-type attackers in the game, and getting that all important Mega Energy from raids is really important.

Mega Sceptile will be back in raids between April 9 and April 21. If you already have some good Sceptiles, getting Mega Energy from these raids will allow you to Mega Evolve them.

Here is the Mega Sceptile Pokémon Go raid guide you need to take this Pokémon down.

Best Mega Sceptile counters in Pokémon GO:

Mega Sceptile has a LOT of weaknesses in Pokémon GO. It has five regular weaknesses, but is also double weak to Ice-type Pokémon. This makes it a pretty simple Pokémon to take down, and assembling your raid team should be fairly simple.

Mega Sceptile is single weak to Bug, Dragon, Fairy, Flying and Poison-type Pokémon, then has that double weakness to Ice-type Pokémon.

Here are the best Mega Sceptile counters in Pokémon GO:

White Kyurem
Ice Fang & Ice Burn
Mega Rayquaza
Dragon Tail & Dragon Ascent
Black Kyrem
Dragon Tail & Freeze Shock
Mamoswine
Powder Snow & Avalanche
Galarian Darmanitan
Ice Fang & Avalanche
Baxcalibur
Ice Fang & Avalanche
Mega Glailie
Frost Breath & Avalanche
Mega Abomasnow
Powder Snow & Weather Ball
Mega Gardevoir
Charm & Triple Axel
Kyurem
Dragon Breath & Glaciate
Glaceon
Frost Breath & Avalanche
Mega Garchomp
Dragon Tail & Outrage

There are lots of Ice-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO to choose from. Since we last saw Mega Sceptile in Raids, we have two amazingly powerful new Ice-type Pokémon, the two Kyurem Fusion forms. Both Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are incredibly strong Pokémon and are must-use for this Raid if you have them. They are stronger than almost every Mega option too, but not being Mega Evolutions means you can have multiple of them in your team.

Any non-fused Kyurem will also be a good counter too, especially with Glaciate.

Some other options, like Mamoswine have very easily accessible Shadow versions which are even more powerful. A lot of the Pokémon here featured over the holiday season a few months ago. So, you shouldn't have any issues building a Pokémon GO team to fight Mega Sceptile.

Mega Abomasnow is a great choice as a Mega Evolution, as it is a top counter that also will boost your Candy and Candy XL.

Can Sceptile be shiny in Pokémon GO?

Yes, the Sceptile you encounter after your Raid can be shiny.

Mega Evolutions to get you more Sceptile candy in Pokémon GO

Mega Evolutions can help you get more candy and XL candy with every catch. Having a mega level 3 active that boosts candy for Grass types will give you an extra 2 candy per catch, as well as a 25% bonus to your XL candy chance.

The quirk here is you catch a regular Sceptile, not Mega Sceptile. That means Dragon-type Mega Pokémon won't boost Candy, as only the mega shares that typing.

Here are the Pokémon you can Mega Evolve to boost Sceptile Candy in Pokémon GO:

  • Venusaur
  • Sceptile
  • Abomasnow

How many trainers do I need to beat Mega Sceptile in Pokémon GO?

Mega Sceptile is a pretty typical Mega Raid boss in Pokémon GO. You'll need about three to four trainers to take it down. With high level Ice-type Pokémon, and Party Power, you might be able to duo this Pokémon as well. We are yet to see the impact of the two new Kyurem's, and this could change the amount of Trainers you need.
