How to set up subscriptions on Twitch

Want to set up subscriptions on Twitch? Here is how.

If you are a Twitch streamer, you know the grind of getting Affiliate and being able to activate subscriptions. It is the first milestone to making a career out of streaming, and streamers have to work incredibly hard to achieve it at times.

Luckily, once you get Affiliate status, setting up subscriptions is quite easy. Here is how.

Setting up subscriptions on Twitch

Activating subscriptions on Twitch is pretty simple. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to allow subscriptions to your Twitch channel.

1. Become a Twitch Affiliate

First off, you have to become a Twitch Affiliate before activating subscriptions on Twitch. Here is everything you need to hit Affiliate status.

How to become a Twitch Affiliate:

  • Gain 50 Followers.
  • Average three viewers over 30 days.
  • Stream 500 minutes or more within 30 days.
  • Stream at least seven days within the last 30 days.

After you've hit Affiliate status, activating your subscriptions is simple.

2. Activate subscriptions

Head into your Twitch dashboard, and set up your payment account under the Affiliate tab. After it is set up, you will be able to add badges to each tier of subscription.

Twitch subscription tiers:

  • Tier 1: A Tier 1 subscription costs $4.99 a month.
  • Tier 2: A Tier 2 subscription costs $9.99 a month.
  • Tier 3: A Tier 3 subscription costs $24.99 a month.

Now remember, Twitch tasks a 50/50 split on subs, so you will only see half of what is paid to you.

Do Twitch Partners get more money from subscriptions?

Sadly, no. Twitch Partners see the same split from subscriptions that Twitch Affiliates do. Twitch has introduced a Partner Plus program, which gives streamers who can reach specific goals a 70/30 split, but it is extremely difficult to reach.

As of now, both Twitch Affiliates and Twitch Partners have similar perks, despite the extra ad revenue Partners get and the purple checkmark.
