100 million players! Yes, Apex Legends has crossed the milestone just two years after its launch. The battle royale game is gearing up for Season 9 on April 19.

Apex Legends has over 100 million players, Respawn Entertainment announced on Wednesday. The free-to-play game launched in 2019 and has already achieved a significant milestone.

Apex Legends crosses the 100 million player milestone

Apex Legends launched in February 2019 and has seen steady growth ever since. The game is a free-to-play battle royale game in a very crowded market. The game has sixteen characters, three different maps and is now in its eighth season.

Apex Legends had a strong start reaching a million players within eight hours of its launch on February 5, 2019. The game hit ten million players after three days and has continued its momentum since then. Respawn Entertainment had announced the game reached 70 million players in October 2019. This was the last time the developer shared player numbers until today.

The last few seasons have seen Respawn make an effort to bring Apex to various platforms. Season 7 saw the game release on Steam. Nintendo Switch players can also access Apex Legends now on their Switch devices.

Respawn’s announcement also teases a new character that should presumably release with the new update. Apex Legends Season 9 will release on April 19 and feature new weapons, cosmetics and quality of life improvements.
