Mac gamer? Here’s how to play Apex Legends on Apple Silicon or Intel Macs using GeForce Now, Shadow PC or Boot Camp.
Apex Legends is now in Season 26 and still one of the most popular battle royale games around. But can you play Apex Legends on a Mac in 2025? The answer is yes.
Whether you’re on an Apple Silicon MacBook or an older Intel iMac, there are a few reliable ways to get into the game despite no official version of Apex Legends. In this guide, we’ll cover how to play using GeForce Now, Shadow PC, or Boot Camp, along with pros, cons, and system requirements. How to play Apex Legends on Mac: Quick Comparison
Method | Works on Apple Silicon? | Pros | Cons |
---|---|---|---|
GeForce Now | ✅ Yes | No install, quick setup, works on all Macs | Internet-dependent, paid tier for best experience |
Shadow PC | ✅ Yes | Full Windows experience, flexible | Monthly fee, needs good internet |
Boot Camp | ❌ No (Intel only) | Native performance, no streaming lag | Complex setup, uses storage space, not future-proof |

Option 1: Cloud Gaming (Best for Most Users)
The easiest way to play Apex Legends on Mac in 2025 is through cloud gaming, which streams the game to your device without requiring installation. This is a new option which wasn't previously available when Apex Legends first launched.
Be aware that this will involve paying. Alternatively if you have an Intel chip Mac (pre-2021) you can go with Option 2 and use Boot Camp.
1. GeForce Now
- Works on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs
- Play via the GeForce Now app or browser (Safari, Chrome)
- Free tier available (1-hour sessions) or paid plans for longer play and better performance
- Your progress syncs with your Steam or EA account
If you can live with limiting your play time to 1-hour sessions then GeForce Now is 100% free. Alternatively, you can opt for Performance ($9.99 a month) or Ultimate ($19.99 a month) which offer different stream quality. These paid options will also allow you to enjoy your Apex Legends on Mac ad-free.
2. Shadow PC
- Gives you access to a full Windows PC in the cloud
- Install and run Apex Legends just like on a real gaming rig
- Works on any Mac via app or browser
- Subscription required
Shadow PC requires a paid subscription - Latest Prices

Of the two cloud gaming options, GeForce Now is currently the most cost-effective choice. However, if you're keen on modding or want a full Windows environment then Shadow PC is a better choice.

Option 2: Boot Camp (Intel Macs Only)
If you’d rather not rely on streaming, Intel Mac users can try installing Windows directly via Boot Camp. To get started make sure that your Mac is up-to-date and has the latest version of Boot Camp Assistant. You also need at least 64GB of free storage space.
This method won’t work on newer Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3) models. To check your model click Apple -> About this Mac.
If you have an Intel Mac you will need to follow a few extra steps:
- Update macOS and Boot Camp Assistant
- Change your Secure Boot settings: To change your Secure Boot setting to Full Security. (restart holding Command + R → Utilities → Startup Security Utility → Full Security)
- Launch Boot Camp assistant: (Applications → Utilities) and follow prompts
- Set the size of the partition: When opened, Boot Camp Assistant will ask you to set the size of the Windows partition. Make sure that you have at least 64GB.
- Format the partition: Press Install in Boot Camp Assistant and format the whole partition. Your Mac will reboot into Windows OS when the installation is done. (make sure you have enough space)
- Download Steam: Download and install Steam. Log in to your existing Steam account. You may need to create a new one if you don't already have a Steam account.
- Install Apex Legends: Download Apex Legends from Steam. Once Apex Legends is ready, you'll need to log into your EA account.
