E-District comes to Apex Legends in Season 22.

Apex Legends Season 22 will introduce E-District, the first new map into the game since Broken Moon arrived all the way back on November 1, 2022.

Codenamed just District during development, E-District is a huge change from Apex Legends maps of the past. It is colourful, it is intense and action will be close quarters and high paced.

Here's some of what to expect when E-District releases into Apex Legends on August 6.

Apex Season 22 details:

E-District will bring true close quarters combat to Apex Legends

Apex Legends Shockwave will bring the games sixth map into rotation. Devs describe it as a "neon playground", with the map forming a densely packed cityscape. While the map might seem smaller, this map will have the most playable space of any map in Apex. This is because of the huge amount of multi-layered architecture in the various buildings and installations across E-District.

E-District is designed around "complete freedom of movement and playstyle expression" says World Director Ed Agostini.

There are a lot of exciting and unique points of interest on this map. Fans might notice that a lot of inspiration has been taken from Eastern Asia with how this map has been pulled together.

POI's like Street Market will create some super intense combat situations when Apex players drop into E-District. The market is laid out radially, with networks of alleyways. This is a super intense drop spot that will no doubt be popular from the get-go.

Devs also highlighted Neon Square, which was inspired by Shibuya centre in Tokyo. It has a lot of rooftop clashes and a big tower that has a great overview around the map.

If you're looking to get a bit more upmarket and climb even higher, Lotus Gardens offers even more rooftop combat. These premium apartments sit super high into the cities skyscape and help bring that verticality to E-District.

Did you know that Prowlers used to be raced in E-District? Neon Oval Raceway is the former location of these Prowler Races, and as such is a really detailed obstacle course. This seems like a great location for both teams that want to bunker down in close quarters, and players who want to use advanced movement techniques to super glide and wall jump all around their new environment.

New Gravity Launchers coming to E-District

As well as a new map, Apex Season 22 will bring a new 'map-toy' to help embrace the verticality that E-District has to offer. These are similar to the Gravity Cannons on Storm Point, but much smaller. These will launch you in a range of distances, as well as horizontally or vertically, depending which one you take. Gravity Launchers are really important to allow players to access the high rooftops in E-District.

Finally, what is certainly most striking about E-District in Apex Legends is the design. This is perhaps the most beautiful map in Apex Legends by far, with a clear design change from past maps. The gameplay will be totally different too. There are no wide open fields to rotate through, no open water to traverse. This is a true city battle, and E-District seems like it will be a really exciting addition to the Apex map rotation in Season 22.
