Liquid Alienware win intense Code Freedom: Champions on a tiebreaker

Team Liquid Alienware won the Code Freedom: Champions event by the finest of margins. They beat out Luminosity on a tiebreaker, with both teams ending on the exact same amount of points.

This event featured all of Broken Moon, Storm Point and Worlds Edge. There was unique prizing, both with incentive rewards and individual game prizing too.

Team Liquid Alienware opened up a huge lead with back to back wins to kick off the Code Freedom: Champions event. They racked up 48 points in just two games.

Their momentum slowed across Worlds Edge and Storm Point, but ultimately their huge individual game score of 24 points was enough to settle a tiebreaker with Luminosity.

For Luminosity, they will be delighted with their second place. The side was contested on Broken Moon, which arguably may have cost them the victory. After a very disappointing ALGS Split 2 Playoffs, seeing LG kick off their Champs preparation with a strong result will be a huge boost to both the team and its fans.

The Code Freedom: Champions event operated a unique prizing system for each individual game. Each game awarded prizing to the top three, with the following awards:

This created a really interesting dynamic between each game. Teams always had the opportunity to rack up some prizing, even if they were way behind in the overall leaderboard. One banger game to open up a big lead in the overall standings is great. But, steadily placing within the top three as many times as possible would yield you bigger results.

As a result, there was some intense end games with several teams vying to snag some crucial cash each game.

Team Liquid will be incredibly excited for the arrival of Broken Moon into the BLGS later this year. They absolutely dominated across that map, winning back to back games. Broken Moons wide open spaces really suited their aggressive playstyle.

This Code Freedom: Champions event was a great showcase at how the unused Apex Legends maps do potentially have some competitive viability. Between events like these and the BLGS, could we see a third map arrive into the ALGS in Year 5?
