A bizzare situation is unfolding.
The missing 2022 South America ALGS Split 1 Playoffs Trophy has showed up at last. Team Singularity never received their trophy for winning the event, unlike their counterparts in EMEA, North America, and both APAC Regions.
The event was played online, after the Omicron Variant cancelled the planned global LAN. Back in 2022, South America was still a major ALGS Region, and they had their own playoffs event.
Now, the missing ALGS Trophy has finally surfaced, but no one can quite believe where it has ended up.
ALGS Trophy sold at auction, and now the team are being asked to pay for it
It turns out Team Singularity's trophy was stopped in transit. This can happen for a number of reasons with international shipping. Customs issues, fees, incorrect labelling and a whole other host of reasons. Any unclaimed parcels are eventually sent to auction.
People can then buy these mystery packages, and are essentially gambling on what is inside. In some way, this is the greatest Apex loot box of all time. The logic behind it is that you can get some very valuable items at low cost, and then resell them for a big profit. The same as seen on popular TV shows about abandoned storage units, and other similar hobbies.
But now, the lucky purchaser of the 2022 South America ALGS Split 2 Trophy wants to do exactly that. Sell it back to the winning team.

Trophy owner wants money to return it
In a video posted online, tagging then team member Besk9, the current holder of the Trophy says that he made a batch purchase from the federal police of unopened parcels. He says he is working to get the trophy back to the team, but his job is to make money from these sort of purchases.
Besk9, adding to the discussion on Reddit, says that the parcel was stopped at Customs. He says missing information resulted in the parcel not being delivered.
So, in order for Team Singularity to finally get a hold of their trophy, some money is going to have to change hands. Unless, the buyer has a change of heart.
In a further twist, it seems the buyer wants quite a lot of money. He is claming that the trophy is embroidered in 24 Carat Gold. Fellow ALGS Split 1 Playoff winner, in the EMEA Region, K4SHERA, has posted a video of his own trophy. This debunks that the Trophy is made, in part, of gold. He says "If this were gold and silver I would have already melted mine, just by weight I would be rich."
