College Sports Management Group and EsportsU have announced that the second annual Collegiate Esports Commissioner Cup will be taking place at the Esports Stadium Arlington.

Collegiate Esports Athletes to gather at Esports Stadium Arlington

The tournament, ran through CSMG's ESPORTSU program, will be taking place from May 6 - 7. And will be playing host to 64 collegiate Esports teams competing across multiple titles. The games that will be featured at this event, dubbed "May Madness" will be Super Smash Bros, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and Valorant. And now, these lucky few will be given the chance at glory in one of the most iconic venues in North American Esports; the Esports Stadium Arlington.

The stadium, based in Arlington, Texas, has played host to a number of exciting Esports events since it opened its' doors in 2018. It is the largest Esports venue in North America, capable of hosting over 2,500 spectators. The CSMG Esports Stadium Arlington, operated by OpTic Gaming, has played host to many eye-catching moments, such as the Battle for Texas during the third season of the Overwatch League, as well as the 2022 CDL Major 1; the site of Seth "Scump" Abner's final event win as a professional player. And now it shall play host to the CSMG's Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup.

“Esports Stadium Arlington was created to provide a turnkey solution for esports and gaming entertainment events - an easy event setup, professional class gaming experience, proper support and amenity spaces, and an electric fan atmosphere," said Corey Dunn, Executive Director for ESA. "Since 2018, ESA has been the site of many iconic esports moments. CECC is cultivating the next generation of esports professionals. Where better to start their legacy than at ESA?”

What we can expect to see at CECC Texas

CECC Texas marks the second iteration of the tournament following on from last year's event in Atlanta. But this weekend-long event will feature more than just another tournament. CECC Texas will also play host to a variety of interesting activities for both competitors and spectators to immerse enjoy. The event will feature a Career Fair, Cosplay Costume Contests, Esports Celebrity Meet & Greets, and a Technology Expo. CSMG will also be hosting the first-ever live College Esports Awards Show. All in an effort to recognize outstanding performance and leadership across all facets of the Collegiate Esports community.

As for the scheduling of this tournament, this is what we know so far. CECC Texas begins on May 5 with a red-carpet event, which coincides with a Media Day for the athletes in attendance. On May 6 the teams will be facing a grueling set of qualifier rounds which will lead into the Semi-Finals, Finals, and Grand-Finals which will take place on May 7. We cannot wait to see what transpires at this year's event.
