The legendary In-Game Leader Gla1ve, re-signed with Astralis in a deal that’ll keep him with the Danish Org for 3 more years. This comes amidst speculation about the tactician’s future as his contract was going to run out the end of the year, and would have made him a free agent from January 1, 2022.

Astralis, the home to the greatest lineup of all time had lost some of its power when AWPer and superstar player Nicolai 'device' Reedtz left their ranks to join NIP. Since then rumors have been flying about possible moves for the other players, as their contracts were running out. For fans of the Danish Org, Gla1ve's resigning is a huge positive amongst a slew of roster rumors. With the IGL role secured, Astralis have guaranteed a strong foundation and tactical system for whatever roster they end up assembling.

This move will be a huge test for Lukas 'gla1ve' Rossander as the Danish IGL will be in-charge of what is expected to be a completely new roster. It was recently rumored that Danny "Zonic" Sørensen will not be continuing with Astralis in 2022. Nicolai 'HUNDEN' Petersen would be replacing him. This was given further credibility when HUNDEN was absent from IEM Cologne and Heroic played with their Performance Coach instead.

I have achieved a great deal with Astralis and obviously I had a lot to consider before I started the contract negotiations. Was it about time I tried something new or do I see myself in Astralis for years to come?

Lukas 'gla1ve' Rossander

For many fans, Gla1ve is the Best IGL of all time. He'll have to prove that as he is thrust into a new project. But his legacy in the game can never be understated. He will go down as a hall of fame player even if this project doesn't pan out to the same level.

What's the future for the rest of the Astralis players?

The future for Andreas 'Xyp9x' Højsleth, Emil 'Magisk' Reif, and Peter 'dupreeh' Rasmussen still remains unsure. They are linked with a wide range of teams as their potential new homes. Astralis fanswill have to wait and hope that their team can do well at the major despite the roster instability.
