What is the ESL Pro League Season 18 format?

The ESL Pro League Season 18 has two stages - the Group stage and the Playoffs. The group stage features all the participating teams in action. Only a few of these will advance to the playoffs which will help decide the winner. 

Group Stage

  • Four Groups of eight teams each
  • Triple Elimination format
    • Teams need to lose three matches to be eliminated
    • Conversely, teams need to win three to qualify
  • Group Stage winners advance to Playoffs Quarterfinals
  • Runners-up will play  in Round 12 as High Seeds
  • The third placed teams will advance to Round of 16 as High Seeds
  • The 4th placed teams will go to R016 as Low seeds

Playoffs

The playoffs as is the norm are much more brutal. They are single elimination, which means teams have little scope for error. 

  • Single elimination format
  • All matches are best-of-three series
  • Grand Final is best-of-five
