Games of the Future, a controversial tournament

Games of the Future is a tournament hosted by a Russian organizer of the same name. This Dota 2 event is a part of a massive campaign which includes 21 different disciplines and more than 260 teams, all set to be gathered in Kazan, Russia.

According to its site, Games of the Future is "the first ever sports show in the phygital concept,
combining competitions in the physical and digital dimensions."

This tournament has been linked with the Russian government, thus it is widely opposed by many in the community. This is due to the Russian war against Ukraine which began in early 2022.

The participating teams, especially the reputable organizations, have been called out by notable members of the Dota 2 community. Due to the backlash, two teams - nouns and Nigma Galaxy - have withdrawn from the tournament.
