Free gold up for grabs for Morphling against Alchemist in Dota 2.

Dota 2 players have discovered another potentially game-breaking bug this week, with one of Dota's peskiest heroes Morphling in the limelight again for the wrong reasons.

While the scenario to recreate the bug is rare, it's powerful enough to swing a game the longer it goes on, with the Morphling capable of stacking up heaps of gold thanks to Alchemist and his facet, Seed Money.

A clip of the bug in action was shared by Dota 2 player on the game's subreddit on May 4. The bug isn't easily replicable in a live environment given the setup required, but if the scenario arises, you'll be wishing there was a surrender button in Dota.

An Alchemist must be picked opposing the Morphling, and the Alchemist player must select the Seed Money Facet, which grants an extra 250 gold to Alchemist at the start of the game.

If everything falls into place, when Morphling picks up his ultimate at level six and uses Morph on the enemy Alch, Morphling will receive a flat 250 gold bonus as the game thinks Morphling just spawned in with the Seed Money Facet.

Since Morph can be used multiple times before the ultimate expires, Morphling can quickly rack up thousands of gold for free — all before the 10-minute mark is reached and additional to farming normally. The result: Dota 2's hyper-carry gets a ridiculous head start that makes him unstoppable.

It's not the first time we've seen Morphling's Morph ability play tricks, with several other interactions with heroes over the years. Whether it be with Rubick's Spell Steal causing massive lag spikes, or stat adjustments that may have cost a professional team a grand final, maybe it's time Morphling gets a pass over by devs.

It's not surprising to see the complex hero run into more bug problems. As Dota becomes more complex, many more scenarios where Morph can bug out will pop up.

Given how potentially game-breaking the bug can be, and that it's becoming public knowledge, we're expecting this bug to be fixed pretty quickly. In the meantime, if you're planning on picking Alchemist into a Morphling, we recommend selecting a different Facet!
