Unexpected losses by OG and Tundra netted Team Liquid first place

Chaos at WEU DPC as teams scramble to either secure a Major spot or remain in Division I. All while Team Liquid sit on the throne with their first place win.

OG and Tundra Esports are undoubtedly some of the strongest teams in the first season of Western Europe Dota Pro Circuit (WEU DPC). Yet they managed to drop their series against opponents that many did not expect them to. Both OG and Tundra lost 1-2 to Nigma Galaxy and Entity respectively. With that, Team Liquid automatically took first place and earned 300 DPC points.

Samuel "Boxi" Svahn, Liquid's pos 4 player, already went ahead to celebrate their first-place victory. He added that the team will be canceling all scrims most likely for the reason of not exposing their strategies any longer ahead of Lima Major.

Why is Team Liquid guaranteed first place?

Some may question why Team Liquid are celebrating early despite having one series left to play. With the current standings, they are the only undefeated team with a scoreline of 6-0. All other teams in the league have at least two losses. So even if Liquid lost their last match, they would still be in the first place based on the scoreline. They will be facing OG for their next and final match on Friday, Jan. 27 at 6:00 a.m. PST or 10:00 p.m. SGT.

Critical times for everyone else in Europe

The last two days are absolutely crucial for all the other teams in WEU DPC. A bloodbath will surely ensue. OG, Tundra, Gaimin Gladiators, and Entity are still vying for a spot at the Major whereas Team Secret and Nigma have one last chance to ensure they stay in Division I. Here's a breakdown scenario of what all teams must accomplish in order to get what they want.

As you can see, Entity seems to be the core of everyone's problems. They only need to take Nigma down to add more chaos to WEU DPC. Though whatever the outcome, Team Liquid can just chill with their first-place victory. Unfortunately, Into The Breach will not be joining the party because they are already relegated to Division II after losing to Gaimin on Jan. 25.
