Tundra Esports faces early elimination against Team Aster in the playoffs of the first DPC Major of 2023, the Lima Major.
We are saying goodbye to another team at the Dota 2 Lima Major as Tundra Esports has just been eliminated from the tournament. This is the first LAN tournament since the TI champion lifted their Aegis during TI11 in 2022. They sign off the first DPC major of 2023 at the 9th-12th place.
The team goes into this season with the same roster. The DPC 2023 season was rough with everyone eyeing the dominant team. They made it to Lima Major by placing third in WEU DPC 2023 Tour 1 after an excruciating tiebreaker between them, Entity, and OG.
Tundra Esports was eliminated by Team Aster
They did not do quite well in the group stage of the Lima Major, with three wins, four losses, and one draw. The European team barely made it to the playoffs as they managed to secure the top six in their group. Tundra Esports faced a lot of pressure from people wanting to see their performance after their dominant TI run. They have to go through the dangerous lower bracket with elimination on the line.
Their first match in the playoff was against the Chinese super team, Team Aster. The first game was dominated by Team Aster with an early game dominance. The rocky draft coming from Tundra later ended them with a kill score of 5-27 and a 30k net worth difference.
However, Tundra Esports did not give up that easily. They took Game 2 with the biggest net worth difference yet in the Lima Major at 63k gold lead. With Saksa's courier poaching and Tundra support system enabling skiter's Ursa in the late game, they managed to force a third game out of Team Aster by taking it slow and steady.
Game 3 was a close one for both Tundra Esports and Team Aster. It seems like things were going in Tundra Esports' favor as they dominated the early game. Unfortunately for Tundra Esports, Team Aster later recover and has a better late game as they swing the graph to their side and took Game 3. In the end, Team Aster knocked Tundra Esports out of the Lima Major.
