Gamescom 2025 announces new Sekiro anime

Gamescom 2025's Opening Night Live event has kicked off, and Crunchyroll, Qzil.la, and ARCH announced the Sekiro: No Defeat anime during it!

Sekiro anime announced at gamescom 2025

Announced during Opening Night Live at gamescom 2025, Sekiro: No Defeat is a hand-drawn anime adaptation based on the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice video game. It's slated to be a Crunchyroll-exclusive in 2026.

Kenichi Kutsuna, director of the adaptation, shared that bringing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice to life through an anime is a monumental task in that the team is pouring every ounce of their artistic vision and passion into it.

"The final product is being crafted to be a truly memorable experience, one that will leave a lasting impression on both dedicated fans of the game and those who are discovering the world of Sekiro for the very first time," Kutsuna added. "Please look forward to it."

Asa Suehira, Crunchyroll's chief content officer, also shared some thoughts about the announcement. To Suehira, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is known for its precision and intensity, and these qualities carry through beautifully in the anime adaptation.

Here is the full trailer for Sekiro: No Defeat as well. This anime follows a war-torn Japan where the land of Ashina faces a new threat from the Interior Ministry. Desperate to protect his home, Genichiro seeks out forbidden powers. Meanwhile, the kidnapped Divine Heir and his protector, Sekiro, go on a quest to restore balance.

Sekiro: No Defeat cast and creators

In terms of the cast, Crunchyroll revealed three of them so far. Playing the role of Sekiro is Daisuke Namikawa. Next, Kuro, The Divine Heir is voiced by Miyuki Satou. As for Genichiro Ashina, he's played by Kenjiro Tsuda. Below is the list of voice actors and anime creators revealed so far.
