Gotham's most notorious band of criminals, Suicide Squad, will soon venture into the anime world of Isekai. Coming soon in Summer 2024, Suicide Squad Isekai is the ambitious brainchild between Warner Bros and WIT Studio; a wicked mashup between the DC Universe and anime.
How Suicide Squad Isekai came to be
"What if DC characters such as Harley Quinn and The Joker rampage in ISEKAI? This is truly an outrageous anime project we deliver for global audience from Japan. I am thrilled to work with WIT STUDIO for this dream project which only Warner Bros. Japan could produce."
The inception of this ambitious project is quite an interesting tale. Once upon a time, WIT Studio CEO, George Wada, noticed an employee holding a mug with DC characters. He asked the employee, "Do you like DC?" Soon after, he traveled to the US and asked for Warner Bros.' blessings to create a DC-based anime. And he got it. With full support from Warner Bros. US and Japan, WIT Studios set out to produce an audacious anime about the rampaging of Suicide Squad in an Isekai world.
WIT Studio is responsible for hit titles such as Attack on Titan, Ranking of Kings and Spy x Family. Through Suicide Squad Isekai, they seek to increase DC's popularity in Japan. With WIT at the helm, there is a good chance that the project will succeed.
Suicide Squad Isekai plot
The anime fandom's obsession with Isekai is a common fact. So why not combine Isekai with DC's "deadly crazy party of super-villains?" No death by truck-kuns this time though. Except for the ruthless blood and iron leader of A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans), Amanda Waller, who sends the squad through a "GATE" for a suicide mission in an unknown Isekai world filled with orcs, dragons, magic and royalty.
In a mission guised as peacekeeping, the Suicide Squad fight for redemption by wreaking havoc in an otherworldly domain, fighting mythical beasts, demons and all kinds of monsters one would see in an Isekai anime. They also only have 72 hours before the bombs on their necks explode. The plot is as typical as it can get as far as an Isekai goes, but maintains the core essence of Suicide Squad's original backstory.
Characters and cast
Except for Clayface, Suicide Squad Isekai features a familiar ragtag roster of madness with Harley Quinn, Joker, Deadshot, Peacemaker and King Shark. Rick Flag (Taku Yashiro) and Katana (Chika Anzai), who were in the Suicide Squad 2016 movie, will also make an appearance. And of course, not to forget Amanda Waller who is performed by Kujira.
A fully stacked list of characters, Warner Bros. and WIT Studio pull all the stops in casting the best Seiyu (voice actors), ranging from the new and experienced, to perform these classic DC characters.

Furthermore, the casts for the Isekai part of the anime have also been identified and they are as follows:

- Mamiko Noto as Aldora
- Jun Fukushima as Cecil
To put the cherry on top of the cake, they have also enlisted a reputable VTuber from Hololive, Mori Calliope, to help produce the show's ending theme played in the final trailer, "Go-Getters." Creating music for an anime has been Mori's "life-long, death-long" dream as stated in her message video.
Suicide Squad Isekai release date
While there is no official date as of yet, Warner Bros. and WIT Studio plan to release Suicide Squad Isekai in 2024. In fact, according to MyAnimeList Summer 2024 anime chart, Suicide Squad Isekai will be released on July 2024.
