The Sims is coming to the big screen in upcoming movie

Earlier today, The Sims announced the official Sims movie on social media.

"Simmers, we have so much to share about the future of The Sims," said The Sims X account. "An upcoming 25th birthday celebration, a film, Creator Kits and The Sims Creator Program, & much more!"

It seems like at first they were trying to gloss over the fact that the popular video game franchise was also creating a Hollywood movie. Luckily, they posted a little more insight.

Everything we know about The Sims movie

For now, we know that The Sims movie is being made in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, meaning it will probably go straight to streaming services when released.

Kate Herron, director of Loki and Sex Education, is set to direct the film with Briony Redman as a co-writer. Redman has a less notable portfolio under his belt, but has helped out as a writer for large series such as Doctor Who.

The movie will be produced by both LuckyChap and Vertigo Entertainment. It seems like a lot is going into this film, which should excite Sims fans. At the moment, however, we do not have an official cast. For all we know, the casting process has not even begun.

EA, the company behind The Sims, then said that more information about the movie will be revealed next year during their 25th anniversary celebration.

Looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer for more details.
