The new partnership covers the upcoming two Counter-Strike 2 Majors.

PGL and Perfect World have announced a partnership that will see the two TOs collaborate to host esports events across Counter-Strike and Dota 2.

As part of this partnership, PGL will produce all Perfect World tournaments in these two games. The Bucharest based company will also hold all rights to these events outside of China. In turn, Perfect World will produce and distribute PGL events in China.

PGL and Perfect World Partnership from 2024-26

The partnership will last for two years starting this year and coming to an end in 2026. The two tournament organizers are the hosts for the two Counter-Strike 2 Majors this year.

The PGL Copenhagen Major is the first Counter-Strike 2 Major and will take place later this month. The tournament has 24 teams and a $1.25 million prize pool. The winner of the Major also receives an invitation to the BLAST World Finals 2024 later this year.

Meanwhile, Perfect World will host the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major in China later this year. The tournament will take place from December 1-15 and round out the Counter-Strike season this year.

What’s next for PGL?

Earlier this month, PGL announced they will host at least eight million-dollar Dota 2 tournaments. PGL has been one of the biggest names in Dota 2 esports and is also slowly but surely hosting more and more Counter-Strike events. Earlier Valve announced tournament organizers would need to put a stop to their franchised models. This announcement impacts the largest tournament organizers in the scene - BLAST and ESL. It also paves the way for other organizers, maybe PGL, to find more space in the Counter-Strike calendar year.

Perfect World has been a dominant force in Chinese esports scene, often hosting big events across multiple titles.
