The artist leaked the collaboration during an Instagram Live.
Fortnite's been on an impressive run of late with collaborations, from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to the popular streamer Kai Cenat. However, it seems that Grammy Award-winning musician Doja Cat is one of the many upcoming crossovers. Considering how much she plays the game, it's understandable.
While she is technically already in the game, Doja Cat seemingly leaked that she will be an in-game skin soon via an Instagram live stream.
Is Doja Cat getting a Fortnite skin?
The artist, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, dropped the unexpected intel that she is in line to receive a Fortnite skin. During an Instagram Live clip obtained by X user x103p, she stated, "I'm one of the few to get a [Fortnite] skin who actually plays it."
Doja Cat is likely referring to the various celebrities who are already part of the game's Icon Series, which highlights professional athletes, musicians, content creators, and more. Many of these individuals don't play Fortnite, but Doja Cat actually does.
Just last year, she went on a tirade on social media, criticizing the game for its overpowered weapons. More clips have surfaced recently, showing that the artist enjoys the game and plays it regularly.
When will this collaboration take place?
Unfortunately, it's far too early to determine when the Doja Cat x Fortnite collaboration will arrive. Epic Games has its plate full with many crossovers in the pipeline, from Ghostface to KPop Demon Hunters. It's also worth noting that Kai Cenat's Icon collaboration launched just a few days ago.
Epic Games tends to space celebrity partnerships out, and Doja Cat would be a perfect headliner for an upcoming Fortnite Festival season. However, we will have to wait and see when more details arise.
A brief history of Doja Cat in Fortnite
Despite never receiving a skin based on her likeness, Doja Cat has appeared in the game a few times. Her popular song "Say So" debuted as an Emote back in 2020. Another Emote based on her song "Kiss Me More" arrived one year later as part of a built-in Emote for the "Joy" skin.
Since then, Say So, Paint The Town Red, Woman, and Kiss Me More have all become Jam Tracks available in Fortnite Festival. Group all of that together with Doja Cat's enjoyment of the game, and it was only a matter of time.
It's unclear when we will hear more about the collaboration, but the artist herself confirmed its real.
