The FNCS will feature a whopping $8 million prize pool in 2025 alongside a format change to Trios!

The Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Global Championship 2024 just wrapped up on the heels of a dominant performance by North American players Peterbot and Pollo. Following the trophy ceremony, Epic Games teased what competitive Fortnite players and fans can expect from the FNCS in 2025. The announcement included an $8 million prize pool, a change from Duos to Trios, and the return of the beloved Siphon mechanic.

Fortnite teases massive changes to the FNCS in 2025

After the dust settled from Peterbot and Pollo's dominant showing, Fortnite desk host Zeke teased what the FNCS has in store in 2025 in true Marvel fashion. First and foremost, the Fortnite Champion Series prize pool will increase from $7.6 million to $8 million. Additionally, the Duos format will no longer be the primary competitive format instead of Trios. Players worldwide have wanted change for some time, and Epic has finally answered those prayers.

Lastly, the beloved Siphon mechanic will return to competitive Fortnite next year. Epic Games infamously removed Siphon in May 2023 with little explanation, to the dismay of the top professional players. It has remained a fond memory since then, with a glimmer of hope here and there in the form of Medallions. However, Epic plans to reintroduce the mechanic through "Siphon Trials."

What do these changes mean for competitive Fortnite next year?

A Fortnite looks ahead to Chapter 6, and the picture of the competitive scene is incredibly clear. However, nothing is more interesting than the potential Fortnite Trios that could for the FNCS in 2025. With Peterbot and Pollo having just made Fortnite history at the 2024 FNCS Global Championship, question marks are on the horizon.

Top players will look to act fast to secure teammates ahead of the next Fortnite Champion Series, but there is plenty of time. Following Chapter 5 Season 4, an OG Chapter 2 season awaits players before Chapter 6 arrives, likely in December or January.

Combining the format change with an increased prize pool and the return of Siphon and the Fortnite FNCS in 2025 looks promising.
