Hew Moran, Fortnite YouTuber with over 2 million subscribers, shares his advice for upcoming creators

“I personally believe you should keep making videos quickly and always look to improve one thing in every video. This makes you learn more and fail quicker than someone who puts all their time into one video.”

While always dreaming of finding a way to make content creating a career, Hew Moran never expected his brand to scale across millions of viewers. With YouTube now being his full-time job, the Fortnite content creator has gained over 1 million subscribers in just under two months.

Here is his story.

Comedy always played a part in Hew Moran's YouTube career, but gaming was not always a part of the picture

After starting YouTube in 2019, Moran had no idea where his career was headed. He always had a knack for making others laugh. Having content mimick that only seemed right.

"I started out making comedy skits, but I never thought it would get this big", expressed Moran. "I always wanted to do content creating full-time, but I never imagined it on this scale."

Moran's infatuation with the world of comedy started him down a path of always looking for the next best joke, something to make him stand out.

"When I first started, my skits were more general comedy skits", said Moran. "But then I started to mix gaming into my skits, and people really enjoyed that. I then decided to make it my niche."

While combining comedy and gaming, Moran had figured out a formula that worked. His satirical play at the popular battle royale "Fortnite" quickly rose his channel to heights he never imagined.

This was just the beginning though. Towards the end of 2022, Moran had accumulated over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube, a feat very few ever achieve.

But to him, this was not enough.

Starting in November with 500,000 subscribers, Hew Moran quickly saw a rise in his fan base

After YouTube announced its monetization of shorts, Moran quickly saw an opportunity. The content creator took his skills and worked at crafting fast-paced, comedy and gaming YouTube Shorts.

These proved a success almost immediately.

By the end of November, Moran had hit 1 million subscribers on YouTube. He had crafted a routine, making sure to stick to it every single day.

"My thought process was to keep making every video better and more enjoyable", said Moran. "This idea, mixed with uploading every day, saw a giant increase in views and subs. It was insane to me.

Within another month, Moran had reached 2 million subscribers.

"I’m so thankful for all the support everyone has shown me and I’m blessed."

Moran's drive proves that of a freight train, barreling forward and gaining as much traction as possible.

Hew Moran shares his advice for other creators: "I personally believe you should keep making videos quickly and always improve 1 thing every video."

Every creator has their own story, and with Moran's comes motivation and aspiration that only a few ever have the heart for.

"My biggest advice to all creators is that a lot of people get stuck planning and putting so much time into a video when they don’t have the audience", expressed Moran. "So the video might flop or perform unwell."

Even with over 2 million subscribers, Moran continues to push out a video almost every single day, proving why his channel achieves so much success.

Finding what works for you is an important part of being a creator, and you will never do that by only creating one piece of content every once in a while.
