Epic Games Korea has announced that Tottenham footballer Son Heung-Min is coming to Fortnite’s Icon Series. Here’s what we know!

An unlikely story developed overnight by Epic Games Korea, who confirmed that Tottenham footballer Son Heung-Min will be the next Fortnite Icon Series member. This collaboration arrives on the heels of Hotspur's 2025 UEFA Europa League Championship victory over Manchester United.

When the Son Heung-Min skin launches on June 21, he will become the fifth footballer to grace the game's Icon Series collection, joining Harry Kane, Marco Reus, Neymar, and Lionel Messi. Here's everything we know about the situation.

How did this collaboration come to be?

Fortnite leaker Wensoing was the first to report the leak late on Tuesday, June 10. This announcement originated from Epic Games Korea, followed by a subsequent article from a South Korean publication. The images included a picture of Son Heung-Min's Fortnite skin, along with the release date of June 21.

Epic Games Korea further elaborated on what the cosmetics will entail, including a Pickaxe, reactive Back Bling, and a 'Click' Emote. It's unclear how many different styles this skin may offer, but we expect at least two.

While Fortnite's social media accounts have yet to confirm the news, it's safe to assume that more details will be shared over the coming days. There's still plenty of time for Epic to properly tease the collaboration, with just ten days to go until launch.

Who is Son Heung-Min?

Those not in the realm of football might be unclear about Son Heung-Min. Although he's a known entity, he's not as globally recognized as Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. The 32-year-old has been in the English Premier League since the 2015-2016 season.

Since his debut, Son Heung-Min has spent all ten seasons as a member of the Tottenham Hotspurs. Over that span, his efforts have yielded 127 goals. As we mentioned earlier, Tottenham won the 2025 UEFA Europa League Championship.

Pair that achievement with the widespread belief that Son Heung-Min is the greatest Asian player of all time, and there you have a Fortnite Icon Series collaboration.

How did players react to Son Heung-Min in Fortnite?

It is sufficient to say that the reaction was mostly split, with many on the FortniteBR subreddit confirming they were unfamiliar with the footballer. Finalbossgamer echoed the sentiments of many, saying it's a cool skin but theorizing that the vast majority of Fortnite players don't know the footballer.

The entire Reddit thread above reflects the player base's knowledge of Son Heung-Min. However, that doesn't mean it's a bad skin or an unwarranted crossover. Being perhaps the greatest Asian footballer in history is no small accomplishment.

It's not a bad skin or collaboration, but the armor aspect of it looks a little off. We'll have to see more of the reaction closer to the June 21 launch date.
