Fortnite has updated the Street Fighter Item Shop assets, which could mean the collaboration may return soon!

Over 1,000 days have passed since the Street Fighter skins last appeared in Fortnite. The last time they were available was during Chapter 3 Season 3. We are currently in Chapter 6 MS1, and fans have been vocal about their desire to purchase any combination of Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, Guile, and more.

Although the precise date is unclear, Fortnite leakers have confirmed that the Street Fighter collaboration will soon return to Fortnite.

Street Fighter assets updated, indicating an inevitable return

Many of the Fortnite scene's well-known leakers and dataminers jumped on the story that Epic Games updated the Street Fighter Item Shop assets. That notion, more often than not, suggests that the associated assets will eventually return.

Unfortunately, none of the leakers reporting this information could ascertain when Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, Guile, Blanka, and Sakura would be available for purchase. In any case, fans of the series and these skins can rest assured that their lengthy absence will soon come to an end.

The best approach moving forward is to check back here for any additional updates and keep an eye on the reliable Fortnite leakers.

Why have these skins been absent for so long?

This is a question Epic Games rarely ever answers. However, a recent situation involving the Arcane Fortnite skins provided insight into how these discussions work behind the scenes. Vi and Jinx, the two characters involved in that collab, have been absent from Fortnite for a time similar to Street Fighter.

Marc Merrill, the co-founder of Riot Games, explained in a social media post that, despite having several conversations with Epic Games, the two parties couldn't find "the right fit" to bring them back.

A similar situation may have unfolded between Epic Games and Capcom. In addition to the Street Fighter collab, the Resident Evil collab has also remained on the sidelines. Since Capcom owns both franchises, they may have recently reached an agreement to revive Street Fighter.

Players are cautious about the Street Fighter skins allegedly returning

Reddit user Zingydeath on the FortniteBR subreddit cautioned others about the report. He and a few others pointed out in a Reddit post that Epic has updated the shop assets for the Kratos Fortnite skin numerous times, only for it never to return.

Others discussing the situation remain hopeful and ready to spend their V-Bucks. However, the wait is on to see whether the Street Fighter skins return to Fortnite, but there's at least a glimmer of hope.
