This outage is prohibiting many of Fortnite players from queuing into matches.

Fortnite players have mass-reported an outage that prohibits them from queuing into matches. This issue has affected the 'Discovery' menu, which allows players to select which game they want to play. Epic Games has finally addressed the problem, and here's the latest regarding what's wrong with Fortnite.

UPDATE #3: Services have been restored and stable for several hours

As of 1:46 p.m. ET, Fortnite's servers have been back online and stable. Players have reported no further matchmaking issues, so you should be good to play!

UPDATE #2: What's still wrong with Fortnite?

Just when we thought Epic Games had resolved the issues, the same matchmaking and Discover menu problems resurfaced on March 29 at 8:47 a.m. ET. The post above went live on the Fortnite Status account, explaining that Epic is working on the issues affecting Fortnite services.

UPDATE: Services were restored as of 4:38 a.m. ET

Fortnite continued experiencing matchmaking and Discover lobby issues roughly five hours. Epic Games provided one additional update but services have returned online as of 4:38 a.m. ET.

What's wrong with Fortnite right now?

Roughly one hour after players began reporting the Fortnite outage, Epic Games released a statement regarding what is wrong with the game. As many expected, the ongoing issue has affected players' ability to "matchmake" or select games.

That effectively means Fortnite is down at the moment and will be until Epic figures out what's wrong. An official statement from the Fortnite Status account reads as follows:

"We’re working to fix an issue where players are unable to matchmake or select games in the lobby.
We’ll provide an update once this has been resolved."

Fortnite Status comments on the March 28 outage

Depending on where you are in the world, this outage could spill into March 29. While Epic Games didn't elaborate on the cause, they are working to fix it.

How long could the game be offline?

Unfortunately, it's impossible to determine how long the 'Discover' matchmaking issue will persist. Epic Games typically works fast to restore these types of services, especially with thousands of players eager to jump back in.

Your best bet for the latest updates regarding what's wrong with Fortnite would be to follow the Fortnite Status account. This account will post a message once matchmaking is operational again.

For the time being, those affected by this outage will have to wait until Epic comes to the rescue and brings the game back online. It could last several hours or just a few more minutes.

When that inevitably returns, you can feast your eyes and V-Bucks on the brand-new Mortal Kombat collaboration and much more in Fortnite. It will be worth the wait for any MK fans out there.
