At Gamescom 2025, the sequel to Black Myth: Wukong was officially unveiled. Black Myth: Zhong Kui is now in development by GameScience.

The Black Myth: Wukong is a cherished game among fans, and many have been eagerly anticipating news of a sequel. Gamescom 2025 did not disappoint, as it delivered the exciting announcement that this universe will be returning with a sequel titled Black Myth: Zhong Kui.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui

"Set against the backdrop of the classic Chinese folktale 'Zhong Kui Banishing Evil,' Black Myth: Zhong Kui is a single-player action role-playing game steeped in ancient Chinese fantasy," GameScience stated. "The game will provide unique experiences and gameplay features that challenge our limits while introducing fresh ideas and necessary changes to address past flaws and regrets."

Black Myth: Zhong Kui is currently in early development. Currently, there is no official release date available. We will need to wait for further information. Don't worry, we will keep you updated on that! While you wait, check out the reveal trailer shown at Gamescom 2025.

The game will remain a single-player ARPG, following the same base as Black Myth: Wukong. Remember, you're not going to play with the monkey. This means you can expect something different this time. It will be available on PC and "all mainstream console platforms," but we will have more information before the game's release.

In the Black Myth: Zhong Kui official page, the developers explained Zhong Kui came as a "natural choice born of that aspiration [to bring fresh ideas to our world and narrative design] and other contributing factors." They added that they believe they can "make refreshing changes, create new things, while taking a hard look at past flaws and regrets."

If you follow the game's socials, be aware that all platforms will change from "Black Myth: Wukong" to "Black Myth."

The end of the Black Myth universe? Not even close!

At Gamescom, host Geoff Keighley described Zhong Kui as "the ghost-catching god who wanders between hell and earth." Despite this announcement, Keighley emphasized that Black Myth: Wukong's story will continue, indicating that DLC is on the way.

GameScience supported this idea, stating on the game's official page: "To all friends who love 'Black Myth: Wukong', the journey westward doesn't end here." We might have more content regarding this incredible game soon.
