The Legend of Zelda movie just got a huge update. After its theatrical release, it will be headed straight to Netflix.
It would seem again as if Netflix is doing everything in its power to corner the market revolving around movies and tv shows. The popular streaming company recently got ahold of the rights to stream The Legend of Zelda movie directly after its theatrical release. So, is this a good thing? Or bad?

Many have criticized the monopoly Netflix has created over the entertainment industry, and rightfully so. This has single-handily been one of the biggest factors to the film industries failing box office numbers, creating less of a revenue for studios and more and more slop being produced.
However, do not be worried about The Legend of Zelda movie coming to Netflix, as it will still get a major theatrical release. In fact, this does not mean that it will be taken out of theaters early, but simply will be put on Netflix the second its theatrical release is over.
So, if it does will (assuming it will), the movie will probably get a few months in theaters before hitting Netflix.
Recently, big movies such as Frankenstein and Dead Man Tells No Tales have done similar methods, except releasing the movies in theaters and on Netflix simultaneously, which helped with viewership but killed the movie’s numbers in the box office.
At the moment, there is nothing to worry about regarding The Legend of Zelda movie. With it getting a full theatrical release before its put on Netflix, we should expect it to make quite a bit of money to further produce the rest of the movies planned for the saga.
When does the movie release?
The Legend of Zelda (live action) movie is set to release on May 7, 2027. The movie began filming in New Zealand over the last few months, with a few teasers being released online.
At the moment, however, we know very little about the movie. Despite all the speculation, no one knows just what game it will be the most influenced by or if it will just take multiple aspects from different games.
Either way, The Legend of Zelda movie has the opportunity to be one of the biggest sagas in the world, opening up the world of Hyrule to people everywhere whom have never played the game.
