Europes elite will once again take to the rift as the 2022 LEC season officially begins. Ten of the best teams in the region will be competing across multiple weeks of action. The lucky winner at the end of the playoffs will earn their rightful place as Europe's representative at the Mid-Season invitational. Here is Esports.gg's complete fan guide to the LEC spring split.

Which teams will be competing in the 2022 LEC spring split?

Across the entirety of the 2022 season, ten teams will compete in both the spring split and the summer split. Nine teams will be returning from the 2021 season except for Schalke 04. The well-established side sold their spot to Team BDS who is the newest team in the franchised league.

What is the format for the 2022 LEC spring split?

Regular season format

The ten teams showcased above will compete in an eight-week double round-robin league. Every match will be best-of-one as was the case in 2021. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the playoffs. The top four teams will start in the upper bracket and the fifth and sixth-placed teams will start in the lower bracket.

While there has been no confirmation on the 2022 spring split format, Liquipedia is presenting the format that was used throughout the 2021 season. Six teams compete in a double-elimination bracket with every series being a best-of-five. As stated earlier, the top four teams will start in the upper bracket semi-finals while the bottom two teams will start in the lower bracket first round.

What is the prize pool for the 2022 LEC spring split?

The prize pool for the 2022 LEC spring split is €200,000. The winner of the spring split will receive a large sum of the pool but also qualification for MSI. Here is how the prize pool is distributed amongst the teams.

  • First place: €80,000 + MSI qualification
  • Second place: €50,000
  • Third place: €30,000
  • Fourth place: €20,000
  • Fifth place: €12,500
  • Sixth place: €7,500
