League of Legends is bringing Demacia to Summoner’s Rift in 2026. Discover the new skins and the cinematic theme.
One of the most iconic regions of the League of Legends (LoL) universe is finally coming to the game as the next season's theme. In 2026, players will welcome Demacia as the theme for Season 1. This also means new additions to Summoner's Rift and new skins.
League of Legends Season 1: Demacia map
The first notable change will come to the Summoner's Rift map. The Winter map will sadly leave us after the holidays and will make way for Demacia. The Rift will be full of Petricite, a magical material uniquely found in this region. You can identify it by its white and gold look. You can recognize it by its white and gold appearance. Aside from the turrets and the Nexus, there won't be many changes to the map itself.
Demacian skins
In 2026, we will also see the comeback of the seasonal skins. Since Demacia will be the next theme, some champions will be getting Petricite skins. In the developers' update video, we could see Taliyah, Nautilus, Cho'Gath, and Morgana getting new Demacia skins.
Leaks suggest Morgana is getting a Prestige skin, which is evident from the amount of details showcased in the video. As you might have noticed, none of the champions are from the region, except for Morgana. According to Riot, the goal is to reimagine champions with a Demacian theme while adding more variety to the game. Don't worry, Riot is not releasing another Lux skin, at least for now.
Cinematic
This also means that we are moving in the League of Legends lore. In the first cinematic of the year, set to drop in January, we are going back "to the old school Demacia this time," as Riot described it in the video. The timeline will be around the Golden Age of Demacia.
Demacia was once a powerful kingdom with a proud military tradition. We are returning to a time when justice, honor, and duty were held in the highest regard. However, this self-sufficient nation was shaken by the sudden death of King Jarvan III. With the noble families yet to fully support the young Prince Jarvan (later known as Jarvan IV), uncertainty gripped the kingdom, leading many to believe that Demacia’s Golden Era had come to an end.
