Arcane Season 2 will release in November 2024 according to a new announcement by Riot Games and Netflix.

The delay in production is to ensure the show maintains the same quality as Season 1. It will also help the producers gauge the reaction of the audience.

Arcane Season 2 release date

This time frame was initially leaked through Riot’s parent company, Tencent during the 2024 Video V Vision Conference. The leak reveals that Arcane Season 2 would release in Winter 2024 which would have placed its release date somewhere between October to December 2024.

Fans speculated that Arcane Season 2 should launch in November 2024, which would be the same month as Season 1’s release. It would also be much closer to League of Legends’ 15-year anniversary.  League of Legends first released on October 27, 2009.

Soon after the first season, the producers announced Season 2. The new season will retain several familiar characters and cast members including Hailee Steinfeld as Vi and Ella Purnell as Jinx.

Why was Arcane Season 2 delayed?

Despite Arcane Season 1 releasing in 2021 and the show being renewed soon after, Riot Games had never really announced a release date. As such, the show’s release in 2024 might be a bit disappointing for some fans who were hoping for an earlier release.

"It is not ready yet. There’s two reasons - one you want the quality. You don’t want to rush. That takes time. The other reason is honestly, we didn’t know Season 1 was going to be a success. So we didn’t start Season 2 earlier. If I’d known it would’ve (been a huge success), we could’ve started Season 2 earlier. So we waited and we’re paying the price so unfortunately, it’s not going to be this year."

Riot CEO, Nicolo Laurent.

That being said, the reason for Season 2’s 2024 release might be so the producers can ensure the same quality as the first season. Riot CEO, Nicolo Laurent, also said another reason for the delay is that Riot was not sure if Season 1 was going to be a success and so they started the second season’s production very late.

We can’t wait to see what’s next in Arcane. Season 1 has a 9/10 rating on IMDB with over 240,000 votes.
