Following their loss to Fnatic, EG Jojopyun spoke to media in a post-match scrum.

Evil Geniuses kicked off their Worlds 2022 campaign with a loss to LEC's Fnatic. Despite having to start Muhammed Hasan "Kaori" as their ADC for this competition; EG were slightly favored to come out on top against Fnatic given that Fnatic are facing COVID-19 issues with their own botlane.

EG's loss to Fnatic puts them behind Fnatic in the race as both teams are expected to compete for the number one spot in the group.

Another loss to a LEC team

After failing to beat G2 at the Mid-Season Invitational in six games played, there were questions on how EG will fare at Worlds against another team from the LEC. While Fnatic are seen to be less stronger than G2, they still have some of the best players in each lane.

Moreover, despite their support Zdravets "Hylissang" Iliev Galabov not being able to start, they dominated the bot lane. They also took control of the mid game and made EG try to react to their plays for the most part.

When asked if the losses against G2 at MSI played a part mentally when they fell behind to Fnatic, EG's Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun had other thoughts on this.

I don't know but my team is. For me, i don't really care about that because they are a completely different team. And i think G2 is much better, so i didn't really think too much about that.

EG opted for a Caitlyn first pick paired with Lux and decided to play around their sub bot laner, Kaori. The plan seemed to work for the first few minutes. However, it fell apart pretty quickly after Fnatic's bot lane got the first kill of the game. Fnatic took control of the map after this and made it hard for EG to get back into the game.

We were snowballing pretty well for the first 6 minutes. I haven't reviewed the game yet i'm not sure exactly what went wrong. But i think we ran a pretty good draft.

EG will face LOUD Beyond Gaming tomorrow; and will need to win two of those games to avoid dropping more ground to Fnatic.
