GEN vs G2: The most anticipated match of the week

They are not strangers in international events. It wouldn't be correct not to call this match one of the most anticipated one of the week. One of the biggest teams in South Korea, undefeated during the LCK Spring regular season, is now facing the second seed of the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. They’ve met only three times, with G2 Esports coming out on top twice. Expect an intense clash filled with high-level League of Legends and unforgettable moments on the Canadian stage.

GEN vs G2: Match recaps

You can find the Gen.G vs G2 Esports recap here. Come back after the games to read about every key moment.

Match 1

The match started slowly for both teams, and no one was forcing too much. Gen.G was playing more aggressively, pressuring the side lanes, but G2 Esports was focused on the objectives. In the second dragon fight, Caps ulted perfectly, allowing G2 to collect three important kills. The European team was cold, every play was calculated, and so well executed that it made Gen.G give up the third dragon and go back. Caps' overstaying cost him his life and gave Chovy 1k gold.

Gen.G was desperate for some opportunity, and Athakan was the perfect one, but G2 Esports was just playing unbelievably good this match. Caps was having the game of this MSI, completely stomping the Korean team. Later, they tried once again in Baron, but even though they got it, G2 Esports took four champions with them, leaving the match to be decided in the Elder fight.

Everything was decided. G2 Esports killed the Elder after getting the Soul and increased their gold advantage up to 6k. All they needed to do was push the side lanes. G2 stomped Gen.G in the first match!

Match 2

Gen.G came more confident to Match 2. After a very synchronized play around the grubs, Gen.G won the fight and opened a door for a small but important advantage. Chovy and Ruler were getting stronger, which was a big threat to G2. In a dragon fight, Ruler just popped off; he was looking like an American sniper.

G2 had to take a step back, breathe, and look for another approach to try and make this match favorable for them. Ruler was 12/1/6 at 27:45. There was nothing more that G2 could do to change the destiny of this match.

Match 3

This match was the worst thing that could have happened to G2 Esports. Gen.G entered with the right foot and just stomped. Canyon released his interior beast and destroyed this match. Since early, Gen.G assured its supremacy by letting Canyon sum up his Lee Sin and annihilate the whole match.

Match 4

In Match 4, both teams were very aggressive and looking out for some true fights everywhere. Gen.G was going for a team-fight focused strategy, but G2 was answering very well, finding good picks and taking advantage of Gen.G's mistakes. MSI 2025 was ready for incredible fights!

Gen.G was getting perfect picks on the side lanes, making G2's life way more difficult. They were confident in their plays. G2 tried to engage in some game-changing fights, but there was nothing more they could do. This series is Gen.G coded.
