This match brought the sixth title to T1, the third one back-to-back. KT Rolster achieved great results at Worlds 2025, and they were aiming for more: the battle did not go their way, despite really great efforts.

The biggest League of Legends tournament of the year came to an exciting conclusion with this grand final between T1 and KT Rolster.

On one hand, it's not a big surprise to see T1 battling for the title again. Still, their regional performance was pretty shaky. Even at Worlds 2025, T1 had some difficulties during the Swiss Stage. Maybe high-stakes matches activate a different competitive mode for Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and the crew?

As for KT Rolster, this team exceeded people's expectations just by reaching the LoL Worlds 2025 grand final. Upsetting T1 could be such a sensation, but even the fight they gave in this match was exceptional.

Match recap

However awesome KT played in the grand final of LoL Worlds 2025, it feels like T1 overclassed them on personal and team levels.

KT Rolster earned an early advantage in the first two games. They converted it into a win in Game 2. The team fights were their strong side in Game 3.

T1 won Game 1 with one crucial fight that snowballed into immense power. They won Game 4 thanks to miraculous objective steals by Oner, so that even good team fights didn't save KT Rolster.

Game 5 was full of aggression from both sides, but T1 could earn more kills and gain a proper might for the final blow.

Game 1

KT had a really good start to this game. They delivered kills and secured early objectives. However, after one Dragon fight, T1 turned everything around. They grabbed the advantage and masterfully snowballed it to the win.

The First Blood went to KT thanks to their early aggression in the river. Keria punished the overstepping of deokdam on the Bot lane but also died from the turret. KT followed with another kill, on Gumayusi, so that they could take the first Dragon and three Voidgrubs uncontested.

More kills were added to KT’s score thanks to responding to T1’s gank attempt. KT also won a pushing game around the second Dragon, and they secured Herald.

All these achievements were totally nullified by the striking offense of T1 around the third Dragon. T1 won the fight, secured the objective, and eliminated KT’s lead.

They repeated this success around Atakhan, Baron, and one more Drake. KT still could take occasional kills, but they were losing team fights and objectives.

Keria’s Poppy was crucial at these moments. The champion earned a number advantage and dealt good damage.

After taking the Baron buff one more time, T1 broke KT’s base and won Game 1 in the LoL Worlds 2025 grand final.

Game 2

This time, KT did not lose their early advantage and used it for the game win. They were patient to grow the power and did not let T1 respond.

KT took First Blood after a dive on Gumayusi on the Bot lane. T1 secured the first Dragon but decided not to contest Voidgrubs.

On Mid, KT initiated a fight and won it with two for one. That brought a 2k gold lead for them. T1’s gank on Top was punished again. KT took a turret and Rift Herald thanks to this.

T1 eliminated Vi of Cuzz to start a team fight. They won it, even if with casualties. After reviving, KT earned an Ace, and the remaining three players secured Atakhan and a Dragon.

A lot of successes for KT were possible thanks to Bdd’s Mel. The champion dominated with her massive lead. Voidgrubs helped KT take turrets easily.

T1 also had good plays, like an ambush from Doran to take down deokdam. KT were tricky with their moves after that. They contested Baron — not to take it, but to prevent T1’s Soul point.

Cuzz snuck into the Dragon pit and secured their third Drake. T1 wanted to use this moment to take Baron, but they were chased away by the rest of the KT players.

Starting with a kill on Faker, KT won a fight and secured the Baron buff. They cracked T1’s base, won a fight around the Dragon, earned the Chemtech Soul, and destroyed one Nexus turret. With the second Baron in their pockets, KT returned for more and won Game 2 in the LoL Worlds 2025 grand final versus T1 — despite a really good defense from the reigning Champions.

Game 3

KT Rolster won this game thanks to amazing mid and late fights. They were also decently patient with the offense to not allow T1 to recover.

T1 took the first Dragon, but KT chased them and earned the First Blood on Faker.

Doran had a weird solo invasion at minute 8. Thanks to this distraction, T1 secured three Voidgrubs.

KT contested the second Dragon. It looked difficult for them, but then Cuzz’s Dr. Mundo stole the objective and landed four kills in that team fight.

A mistake by Peter around Rift Herald allowed T1 to take the objective and make the kill score equal.

KT took their second Dragon and a couple of kills. T1 wanted the same, and they really got a Dragon. Still, KT earned more kills and Atakhan.

A bit later, KT initiated Baron. T1 tried to contest, but KT aced them and took the buff. That was a moment of no return.

KT Rolster destroyed the Bot Inhibitor. Even with a good fight, T1 couldn't kill Dr. Mundo. KT secured the Chemtech Soul out of that.

To seal the deal, KT set a trap around Baron, aced T1, ruined the Nexus, and reached the match point in the Worlds 2025 final.

Game 4

Oner won this game for T1 thanks to his amazing steals. This was the whole point of this battle: KT Rolster were winning team fights, but they could not secure any objective. Eventually, even the fights went T1's way.

To start, KT dived on Mid to take down Faker and earn the First Blood. They tried to secure a Dragon after that, but Oner stole it with Flash and Smite.

That happened again with the two following Dragons. KT really had their eyes on these buffs, as they even ignored Herald dropping on Mid to continue fighting for the third Drake. Yes, Oner secured it for T1.

This successful objective stacking continued with Atakhan. KT went for it right on spawn, but T1 contested and won. This time, kills were also falling into T1's pockets.

The dominance of T1 became tangible when they took the Ocean Soul and aced KT.

With three more kills, T1 got themselves the Baron buff, started a siege, aced KT Rolster again, and brought the grand final at LoL Worlds 2025 to a decisive Game 5.

Game 5

From successful dives around Summoner’s Rift to securing big objectives: T1 implemented their win plan perfectly!

The First Blood went for T1 thanks to a gank on Top. KT tried to respond with a dive on Faker, but Bdd died doing so.

T1 enjoyed targeting Perfect, so they repeated this fun gank — and not just once.

The teams forgot about a slow game, as they attacked each other actively in the first half. Then, there was a period of farming in the mid-period.

The objectives fell to both sides. T1 got two Voidgrubs. KT took Rift Herald and their second Dragon.

The break point happened around Atakhan. Gumayusi started it solo on spawn. When the other players joined, T1 secured this crucial objective and aced KT Rolster.

Bdd was the only KT player with a gold advantage, and it was massive! T1 identified that brilliantly, and they focused on killing Bdd first in the next Dragon fight.

With the Baron buff and their third Dragon, T1 started a siege. Notoriously, they destroyed the turrets, but KT brought down the offense with a kill on Doran. After a short delay, T1 secured the Cloud Soul, aced KT in a fight around Baron, and won League of Legends World Championship 2025.

To face the legend: KT on a mission

KT Rolster is one of the top teams in the LoL Champions Korea (LCK). They finished in the top 4 at a few recent regional splits and won one back in 2023. Still, they were defeated by T1 quite regularly.

On the international League of Legends esports scene, KT are extremely rare participants. Prior to 2025, the last time this organization was present at Worlds was in 2023: KT finished in the top 8. Having this team back felt pretty great.

Another title for T1!

T1 won the LoL World Championships in 2024 and 2023. The organization had five such cups in their trophy room, and the Worlds 2025 brought them the sixth one. After all, they have Faker in the roster, a true legend of LoL esports.

The regional performance of T1 has been a struggle recently, especially for the fans. The team had difficulties qualifying for Worlds 2024, and they started the tournament in 2025 from an elimination match of the Play-In Stage.

The grand final completed Worlds 2025 and the entire season in competitive League of Legends. After it, teams go for a break to prepare for the first regional split of 2026.
