Game 1
For a while, the teams had a rather even game 1. But then, G2 won a team fight and decided to take Baron — that did not happen, as Team BDS stole the objective while having fewer players. This success was followed by Dragons, another Baron, and great team fight wins. Eventually, BDS went for an Inhibitor tower and took G2’s Nexus. Team BDS won game 1 of the LEC Summer 2024 lower-bracket final.
Game 2
Game 2 started very well for BDS. They successfully secured objectives, one after another. They got an impressive kill and gold advantage. But then the composition for G2 started paying off. Or rather BDS allowed that to happen with their small but disastrous mistakes. G2 Esports players started winning team fights, chasing their opponents, destroying their structures… G2 got Baron to eliminate all the deficits. And soon, they took the Nexus and won game 2.
Game 3
Game 3 was slow for quite a while: in terms of kills and even the gold difference. Both teams were focused on objectives and scaling. But it was quite obvious that Team BDS couldn’t unleash the preferred scenario for their composition. At some point, G2 Esports started Baron, won a team fight, and destroyed all Inhibitors. In a couple of minutes, the Nexus of Team BDS was down, and G2 reached the match point.

Game 4
The start again looked promising for BDS — they got kills and a small gold advantage. G2 struck back around minute 20 and secured Baron. That gave them a fake feeling of power, so G2 players overstepped and got severely punished, eating full team death. With the Baron buff on their side, BDS attacked G2’s base, and it did not go too well. With the Inhibitors destroyed, BDS still couldn’t finish the game. G2 won that team fight and pushed the game to the late stage. They got better positioning around the Elder Dragon and then quickly destroyed the Nexus of Team BDS.

The previous matches can not boost the confidence of Team BDS at all. G2 defeated them at the LEC Season Finals 2023. G2 Esports won against Team BDS in the LEC Winter 2024 upper-bracket final. And during the LEC Spring 2024 playoffs the result was pretty much the same.
Team BDS won against G2 Esports during the LEC Summer 2024 Regular Season. But those were Bo1 matches with a lot of chances to recover throughout the following weeks, which G2 actually did. When the stakes are high, the results are most often different.
Is it bad for Team BDS?
It depends on their approach! Someone would say “ok, no chances here; we are in the LEC Finals anyway”.
But Team BDS may turn on a different mode, something like 'we need to break this head-to-head record, reach the grand final, and get our ticket to the LoL World Championship 2024'. Similar to all good esports teams, BDS tends to be in the second mood!
As for G2 Esports, they surprisingly have a lot to prove themselves and their fans. Their performance at the Esports World Cup wasn’t great. They lost to Fnatic in the upper-bracket final. Losing to Team BDS? This is not an option!
