There's no shortage of League of Legends esports events this year, and one of them involves China's League of Legends Pro League 2025 (LPL 2025) circuit. The circuit features three splits, culminating in the LPL 2025 Grand Finals where only three teams will secure a spot at Worlds 2025. LPL 2025 results
The LPL 2025 season includes Split 1, Split 1 Playoffs, Split 2 Placements, Split 2, Split 2 Playoffs, Split 3, plus with the LPL 2025 Grand Finals. The esports action kicked off with Split 1, which ran from Jan. 12 to Feb. 16 and featured 16 teams in total. LPL 2025 format
In terms of the format, LPL 2025 Split 1 featured 16 teams divided into four groups based on placements from 2024. These four groups of four teams duked it out in single round-robin, best-of-five (Bo5) matches under the Hard Fearless Draft format. This meant champions were only picked once per series by either team. Additionally, the Game 1 side selection were decided by a one-versus-one (1v1) solo match with the top two teams from each group heading to the LPL 2025 Split 1 Playoffs.
The LPL 2025 Split 1 Playoffs then featured eight teams fighting in Bo5 matches under the double-elimination format. These used the Hard Fearless Draft format as well. In terms of what was at stake, it was a spot in the First Stand 2025 tournament.
Journey to MSI 2025 and beyond
As for LPL 2025 Split 2, it also started with 16 teams put in groups of four. The teams then battled in double round-robin, best-of-one (Bo1) matches. After the placement matches, 10 teams entered Group Ascend while six teams joined Group Nirvana.
Between April 5 and May 21, Group Ascend will battle in double round-robin matches while the latter will fight under the single round-robin format. Both groups will battle in best-of-three (Bo3) matches as well.
Next, the LPL Split 2 Playoffs will happen between May 24 and June 14. This event will feature 12 teams in total, including 10 from Group Ascend and two from Group Nirvana. The Play-In Stage will happen before the Bracket Stage, and the top two teams will advance to the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) event Esports World Cup (EWC) events of 2025.
