TCL postponed in wake of Turkey-Syria earthquake

The TCL has announced its postponement following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey.

The Turkish Championship League (TCL), the professional League of Legends federation in Turkey, has announced its postponement until further notice. The news comes following the tragic events that transpired in Turkey and Syria this morning (Monday, Feb. 6). The LEC's Turkish broadcast will also be postponed.

At around midday GMT, the TCL's Twitter account posted the announcement that the League of Legends league will be postponed until further notice. The LEC confirmed this announcement at the beginning of their week three, day three broadcast.

On Monday morning, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck near the city of Gaziantep, Turkey, at 04:17 local time, taking the lives of thousands. Twelve hours later, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey's Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş province. The earthquake has impacted Turkey, Syria, and Cyprus.

Leagues affected by Gaziantep earthquake

The TCL is the primary league of Turkey and has been postponed. As mentioned above, the LEC will have its Turkish broadcast postponed until further notice. The Polish League of Legends league, Ultraliga, has also postponed its fourth week of competitive games with "the players' best interest in mind." The Ultraliga field teams that include Turkish players, whose homeland is currently being impacted by the day's tragic events.
