Latin America bows out of M5 as RRQ Akira and Bigetron Sons face elimination

The M5 World Championship bids farewell to both Brazilian contenders.

The fifth day of M5 World Championship comes to a close and an entire region has already been wiped out from the tournament. Brazillian teams take the fall as two of its only representatives, RRQ Akira and Bigetron Sons, face elimination from the Group Stage.

Both teams leave M5 at 13th-16th place, bringing home $15,000 each from the $900K prize pool.

RRQ Akira roster:

  • Arthur "Tekashi" Nascimento
  • Lucas "Kiing" Godoy
  • Matheus "Seigen" Lima
  • Gustavo "Gustalagusta" Lima
  • Luiz "Luiizz" Alves
  • Gabriel "Blink" Favoreto

It is quite upsetting to see Latin America's king, RRQ Akira, fall short on the international stage. The team has ceaselessly dominated the Brazilians' scene with consecutive first place finishes in Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Brazil. However, they have yet to find their footing when it comes to the significant M-series.

RRQ Akira last placed top eight in M4 and now bows out of M5 in the 13th - 16th place. The team was knocked out of Group B following losses against Blacklist International and Team SMG.

Bigetron Sons roster:

  • Felipe "Bllack" Prado
  • Everton "Buzizio" Mattos
  • Pedro "Asock" Frigeri
  • Luís "Sindra" Tavares
  • Lucas "Upa" Araujo
  • Victor "Lunna" Monteiro
  • Nicolas "Akashi" Vieira

Bigetron Sons, on the other hand, was more of LATAM's dark horse. The new team, led by former RED Canids member, Lunna, was more than excited to qualify for M5 as the runner-up in LIGA LATAM.

Despite being formed earlier this year, Bigetron Sons showcased great chemistry - though it wasn't completely enough for them to stand toe-to-toe with teams in Group A. Bigetron Sons failed to earn a single victory so far, losing 0-2 to ONIC Esports and See You Soon.

More eliminations coming soon

So far, M5 has shook off six teams from the Group Stage. RRQ Akira, Bigetron Sons, Triple Esports, Team SMG, Team Flash, and TheOhioBrothers are all eliminated from M5. Tomorrow, the final day of Group Stage begins and it will eliminate two more teams.

Brace yourself as we approach the end of the M5 Group Stage and witness the start of the Knockout Stage. M5 is slowly reaching its summit!
