Overwatch 2 Mythic Prisms explained: How they work and how to unlock them

The new currency will arrive in Overwatch 2 Season 10.

Overwatch 2 will soon introduce Mythic Prisms as an in-game currency. Read on for everything to know about Mythic Prisms in Overwatch 2, including how to unlock them and more.

Overwatch 2 Mythic Prisms

Mythic Prisms will be an in-game currency arriving in Overwatch 2 Season 10. These Mythic Prisms will allow players to both obtain and upgrade past mythic skins. These skins will be available two seasons after their launch as well.

How to unlock Mythic Prisms in Overwatch 2

According to Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller, Mythic Prisms will be available through the paid version of the Battle Pass. He also revealed that players will be able to earn enough Mythic Prisms to unlock and fully upgrade at least one mythic skin in the Battle Pass. All of this will allow players to have more of a choice when it comes to obtaining cosmetics for their favorite heroes as opposed to heroes they don't often use.

"As you progress through the Premium Battle Pass, you're going to earn a new currency. It's called Mythic Prisms," Keller said in an interview with Twitch streamer Flats. "And you're just gonna be able to use those to unlock past mythic skins. And the cool thing is — over the course of that Battle Pass, you'll be able to earn enough of the Mythic Prisms to be able to buy and fully upgrade at least one mythic skin in there."

Keller then continued, acknowledging that not every player is always excited about every hero and hero skin. "Even if you are excited for a particular hero, it doesn't mean you're necessarily gonna be excited about every skin we make for that hero," he said. "The things that we try to put in front of players is like, 'Yeah! Look at how amazing this is.' We believe it's amazing. I think a lot of people can probably look and be like, 'That's really cool, but you know, I don't play Moira. I don't even play support. And so why do I need that?'"

Therefore, the addition of Mythic Prisms will hopefully let more players obtain the mythic skins they've always wanted or missed out on.
